I took my son to that camp. He had a great time, and Dain was sending shots across the court. Sad to see Dain go, but hopefully he does well at Memphis! That's awesome. I'll be rooting for Dain to kill it at Memphis!

We'll continue with this thread for a day or so, perhaps longer. Go Illini
You're sure right about Liberty. Maybe the most hyped recruit we've ever had. He was rated the best h.s. player in the nation by some publications.Nonsense. You start the players at every position who give you the best chance to win. That should have nothing to do with how many stars they earn as recruits. It should have everything to do with how well they are performing as members of the team currently. Marcus Liberty was our most hyped recruit ever. He didn't start for the 88-89 Illini team because there were better players ahead of him, and rightly so. Nothing should be different now. Five start players should not expect guarantees. They should expect a fair chance to earn the right to start.

Oh, Trent Frazier, whoop de doo. Why don't we ever have Victor Chukwudebe appreciation or Jelani Boline appreciation? This oversight has gone on for too long!
Yep. The ABA's Utah Stars. Bill Willoughby, out of NJ, was the first to go directly to the NBA (Rockets) IIRC, in the late '70s. My high school asst coach in Ohio coached him.I'm old, and maybe my memory is fading, but I recall Moses Malone being a "none and done"... that he signed right out of high school with an ABA team.
Whatever led you to think we were the favorite? If you look at what most observers say, Arkansas, Alabama, Arizona, Kentucky, and NBL are the favorites. We frequently aren't even listed. And we don't even know if he'll reclassify. Is that the most likely one outside of Illinois?
I honestly don't see what they have to sell over us...outside of maybe history of doing well with Canadian talent...?
He's got more chance to start here than there and that's pretty much a surety.
Maybe NIL? But pretty sure I read somewhere (I think CBS) that they've ran into a crunch $$ wise after getting Caleb Love back...and that's what led to those top 50 guys leaving...
But also saw somewhere that it was because they wanted to start...
Who knows...
Just really want him here...
Bring back CHOCOLATE THUNDER !!!I'm old, and maybe my memory is fading, but I recall Moses Malone being a "none and done"... that he signed right out of high school with an ABA team.

Darryl and Moses: RIP. Gone way too soon. And died two weeks apart.Bring back CHOCOLATE THUNDER !!!
Moses was an absolute beast. There have been a lot of great NBA big men and he belongs in the same category as Jabaar, Olajuwon, Russell, Wilt, Shaq.Darryl and Moses: RIP. Gone way too soon. And died two weeks apart.
Here's 18 y.o. Moses for the Utah Stars v. the San Diego Conquistadores in the Salt Palace at the outset of his rookie season, 1974. I was in third grade and got one of those fabulous RW&B balls for Xmas that year or the following one.

Fair. I don't know how you look at this roster and not have questions about PT as a freshman.
Granted Riley isn't Butler..
