Week 7 News & Games

Alabama is most notorious for this. They always seem to have this non-conference game as their 11th game (typically the week before they play Auburn), though it is being played one week earlier this year (10th game).

Yeah, they play EIU for that game next season. For some FCS schools, it can sometimes be an issue as that game is usually played the final week of the FCS regular season, just ahead of the playoffs.

I'm just gonna make a wild arsed guess, but I doubt that the likes of Alabama would schedule a team that has some hope of making the FCS playoffs......

Still a good payday for those FCS schools. One day I hope an FCS school stuns them. However, the days of scheduling FCS schools might slowly get phased out.

Most schools don't care whether the school they face will make the FCS playoffs or not. Alabama played a Chattanooga team last season that was ranked in the Top 20 in FCS at the time. The Mocs ended up making the 2nd round of the FCS playoffs.

I stand corrected! Thanks for the info.

Hasn't the B1G already ruled out playing those teams?

I thought it was simply the rule that only one win vs a FCS school would count towards bowl eligibility . not a league rule , rather a NCAA rule

I saw this ad during the Illini/Nebraska game. Can't use a much better voiceover for an ad like that than Carson. And if I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure that's from the Johnny Goes Home TV movie that aired in the early 1980s.

Johnny Goes Home is on YouTube. The passage in the commercial is from his closing. Another example of why I think he's the best broadcaster who ever lived. So great, though his relationship with his family was kinda complicated.

Can report it is a beautiful evening for football in College Park as I wait for a *checks notes* F6 bus to the place where my wife and I will be tailgating.
