Week 7 News & Games

Thought that Ohio State would keep it simple for their kicker after they got inside the 30 but got too cute in the end. Guessing our game against Oregon will be on CBS/NBC.

Even after today...

Bielema > Ryan Day and it is not even close.

Then again Nathaniel Hackett could make the playoffs with Ohio State.

Nathaniel Hackett sounds like someone who traveled forward in time from the Oregon trail days.

Very somberly I must issue an "I told you so" for how bad a career move Nate Scheelhaase made this offseason.

He needs to go get himself a promising G5 playcalling job immediately.
he must have had a falling out with Campbell , huh ? otherwise why make that move ?

I mean I wouldn't be Gritty if I didn't point out how posters here were saying how great it was that he was hooking up with Sean McVay.

But it feels like it was either a soft-landing quasi-firing (their offense wasn't good in 2023), or Nate really really wanted to get into the NFL.

His head coaching future depends on playcalling success, period. He could make more money in the short-term as a rainmaking recruiter, but if he wants to be an HC he needs to be a playcaller at whatever level will let him.

Oh I know who he is. I'm always skeptical of coaches who try to step up and their resume is "worked with a 1st ballot hall of famer"
I meant it as more "anyone with a pulse could get 8 wins as a HC with Ohio State's setup." I could have said Matt Nagy, Brian Ferentz, Dave Campo or any other iffy coaching mind could luck into a playoff place with Ohio State's recruiting setup, roster, and assistants.

BTW I think Day is at best the third best head coach on the Ohio State staff! Hartline and Kelly would clear him.
