St Louis Cardinals 2024

Let me begin by saying I realize Liberatore is only 24 years old. (We say that often when looking at Cardinal players who have not approached their "potential".) I also know he has improved each year he has played in the majors. With the disclaimer out of the way, Matt has been rather a mediocre disappointment to me. For being atop 2-3 prospect in the Cardinal's minor league system a few years ago he has been rather uninspiring whenever he gets called up.
They are two different pitchers but you look at the performances Skenes puts in game after game and then look at Liberatore and all I can do is to shake my head.

Was listening to BenFred on the way home tonight and he said that the biggest issue with Liberatore is that the team keeps moving him around into different roles. Sometimes he's a starter. Sometimes he's a reliever but they even move him around in the bullpen in different roles. He has said he prefers to be a reliever at this point because he can mentally prepare with the possibility that he may be asked to pitch each day.

a lot of teams have 5 starters, in fact they all do. How many look like a top of the rotation one? (meaning 1,2 or 3?)
answer: 1.5

When you score 8 runs you need to win the game. Terrible pitching. Sonny Gray is cratering. If he can't get it straightened out we are cooked.

The MLB trade deadline each year always gets me so giddy with the available possibilities, and then I remember "The Grinch" runs the show and we will never do anything amazing (like acquire Skubel).

Remember getting Larry Walker on a waiver wire deal in 04?

How about Scott Rolen during the 2002 trade deadline. Holy cow what an awesome trade.

I miss the excitement that we used to have.

My deadline deal? Call up 3 of the best hitters from Memphis. DFA Carp and Crawford, send Carlson to Memphis to play every day and see if he can salvage his career. Bench Goldy.

C Contreras/Pages
1B Donovan/Burly
2B Gorman/TE when he gets here a Memphis goes down.
SS Winn/TE
3B Nado/Donovan
LF Noot
CF Siani
RF Burly
DH Contreras/Gorman

Bench: 2 of Koperniak/Prieto/Fermin/Baker plus Goldy.

Come on, Mo is taking the temperature of the market. Just be patient to be underwhelmed.

How many years does he need to take the temperature and say... my porridge still isn't the correct temperature. But I will trade a fringe player for another fringe player and say we'll I didn't want to give up the farm. And you know that player that would have been given up for a player like Soto and we kept a player like Carlson because he was too valuable.

I still believe there is a fundamental flaw in our hitting program from low level to the majors and that we are about to cut bait again on another young player who is going to probably bite us in the @$$ somewhere else.

embarrassing effort last night.....I turned it off when the score got to 4-0..........knew it was gonna be a blowout................

Winn
Burleson
Donovan

They are my untouchables as far as the trade deadline..................anyone else , make me an offer.................

Carlson and the Cardinals would both benefit from a change of scenery , buty his production and injury history mean's little in return......

Oh well , we're not in last place ......................................YET......................

Yeah was excited about the trade deadline a week ago…not so much now. How did our farm go from being one of the best under Walt to one of the worst now??? Gonna be a long road back.
