They are going to roll out the red carpet for this kid. Swing for the fences and see what happens!
I remember all the Illini fans lamenting on Coach not throwing huge NIL money at several players over the past two months that we passed on; including AJ Storr, Koby Brea, Ryan Conwell, Dante Maddox, etc.

Which brings us to now.

By conserving our coffers it looks to be a very wise decision now because of the NIL money that we have stored up to give to a phenomenal scorer such as Will Riley.

Was it luck or an educated calculation by Coach? It worked. Great job. Get ready to watch the Illini play on April 5, 2025 at the Alamodome. Go OA and BU!

IF we land Riley, who is going to lose the starting spot? Is that the Ty/Tre spot?

Starters:
Boswell
KJ
Riley
Humrichous
Ivisic

Bench:
Ty
Tre
Rez
DGL
Booth
Davis?

Redshirt:
Jakstys and I could potentially see Davis redshirting as well ...

Fears joining mid year is also very much on the table as well ... I don't know if it will happen but we will be keeping 1 open just in case for that or the potential Dainja type situation that could happen as well ...

That would be without a doubt the most talented roster top to bottom that Brad has had during his tenure ... There is potentially 4-5 NBA guys on that roster ...

Starting 3 freshmen? Plus a 19 year old junior. I tend to agree although I could see Tiley coming off the bench to start with.

How likely is it that we get Riley for 2 years?

Just my feeling on it...

it doesn't seem like he's a sure shot one and done...

How old is Ivisic? I was thinking he would be older than a typical FR.

I do agree with Indy's starting 5 (if we get Riley). And I think by mid-season it could be a very potent team offensively. Every guy on the floor would a good to really good outside shooter.

And then next year starters: Kylan, Ivisic/Morez, KJ, Riley, Tre (or Dybansta?... - just joking...).

Tre White would start for pretty much any other program out there - the fact that he won't here is sayin something.

This team this upcoming year honestly has a chance to be as good as any Brad team in the past IMO...

As has been the case since the peach basket got nailed to the sideboard, the majority of fans (but not all) get really excited by offensive highlights, stats, and film. What concerns me to some degree is how this group might meld into a defensive team...one that is not used in every opponent's offensive highlight film

Not that I am being critical of this team and their defensive prowess. We have not seen a second of them playing together. It is simply and unknown and yet always a legit concern until they prove it positively on the floor.

We know that Ty is a guy that no B1G guard wants one them, and that they salivated last year when DGL was (and he did improve late to his credit) but that is all we know. Just guessing it will be likely that that BU and staff will get the point across as DGL and DD eventually proved with their effort and attention when the B1G schedule came around. It is my fondest hope that I will be extremely impressed by the attention to detail, effort, and execution on the defensive end.

I would expect a decision from him following his visits ... Everyone I talk to say he is going to re-class ... Taking these 3 visits and going into decision mode ...

I've seen crazier things happen but the rush to get all 3 of these visits in immediately and his circle having all 3 of these programs ensure that he could enroll this summer is probably not a coincidence ...
If he reclasses...I honestly can't understand why Bama is an option - how? They have 0 open scholarships remaining.

If those 3 visits are ILL, KY, Bama - PT wise and opportunity wise...it just doesn't make sense IMO if he decides to go to one of the other two...

The Illini Podcasters have insight into Illinois scrimmages, lots of talk of Tre being better than many expect.
Yeah, Indy's list seems like it's by bench minutes as well. last year you had 7 players average ~20+. Adding Riley I think we get to 8 since Rez & Ivisic are going to have a timeshare

20+ mins
Boswell
KJ
Riley
Humrichous
Ivisic
Ty
Tre
Rez

7-10 mins
DGL
Booth

This team would be so good & I could see DGL/Booth playing their way into the rotation if their shooting takes the next step.

In August. Just looked it up. So we'd be reasonably old and/or experienced at 3 of 5 spots. Not terrible.

Just imagining two offensively skilled forwards like Hum and Riley on the court at the same time. And platooning Ivisic and Morez at C. Wow! I'm warming up to adding this kid!
Kasparas has been playing against high level competition since he was 15, with Barcelona since he was 16. Ivisic for 4-5 years as well. Not your typical freshmen. Riley would likely start with any team in the country. They are all new to Illini and Brad defense, so they will take a little time to mesh. But by 2025....

Oh, Trent Frazier, whoop de doo. Why don't we ever have Victor Chukwudebe appreciation or Jelani Boline appreciation? This oversight has gone on for too long!
I'm 5'11" and got stuck trying to guard Victor Chukwudebe at Greenville Camp many moons ago. If we could not bring his name up it would help with my PTSD of him dunking every possession on me. All the post players "got lost," which I call BS. This was back when you carpooled to camp 1.5 hours away.

That guy must've been 21/21 in the 1st half against me. I'm partially responsible for his scholly, thank goodness nobody was filming for recruiting profiles that day.

Can’t imagine an established program guy like Ty Rodgers would be too pleased an unproven reclass would be starting over him.
I’d like to see Will Riley get good minutes off the bench to start and if he’s really ‘that guy’ then give him the starting spot he deserves.
