Can someone explain why we are all so convinced Fletch is so good? I have no reason to doubt that he is, but he is up there with Bill Brasky as far as legends go, and I'm not sure what the empirical evidence is. We don't seem to avoid injuries any better than anyone else. We don't seem to have guys who simply overpower our opponents (except Terrance, and I think he has been that way for a while). Plenty of other kids cut baby fat and add muscle.

Are there rankings for S&C coaches? Is there data people use to evaluate success or skill?

The injuries have all have all generally been things that were unavoidable, concussions, sprains from a fall, stepping on someone's foot. What we don't see are fatigue injuries or things that come from imbalances like muscle pulls or stress fractures.

There were multiple games last year where our team looked liked they could play another 40 minutes and the other team looked dead. Thats Fletch.

A huge selling point to our recruits and transfers is Fletch and his plan for the players body transformation and health. Also our amazing facilities help with that as well.

Its hard to say who the best is but our players seem to think he's up there and thats coming from guys that have been with multiple S&C coaches.

I do think he’s pretty good but love the Bill Braskey comment. Dude is probably like don’t eat that; eat this; lift that. But he appears to get these guys to buy in for the most part and they do bulk up a ton.

You are kidding, right? There is a reason he is one of, if not, the highest paid S&C coaches in college basketball. It is no secret that Fletch is the best in the biz.

I see Brazile is coming back to Arky. Have to imagine they are out for Coleman?
Honestly don't like that for Coleman. I thought Arkansas was a good fit for him.

I could see a potential for a rough season if he simply goes for securing the biggest bag. If a team is having an up and down season and their big off-season addition for 2 mil is averaging 12/8 I don't think the new fanbase will be as fond of him as we are.

Also, as much as like Kelsey at Louisville I'm not crazy about the fit for Coleman without a proven center(Waterman is so incredibly soft). They've added a ton of depth but I worry that Coleman might be forced into being a 2nd option more often than not.

To those who were just so darn frustrated in April and early May that the roster wasn't finalized, how are you feeling now? Kinda seems like it wasn't worth all the consternation. But also, interestingly, a lot of those posters suddenly seem to be MIA. Funny that.

Roster construction is a long game. We now have the level of success and recruiters to get us in the door to places we couldn't a few years ago. This is why it pays to save some money and have some roster flexibility, just in case. No matter how this works out, it's pretty darn nice to be in serious contention for this one.

I was definitely one that was starting to get nervous with the process and one that prior to KJ being added was not falling in line with some of the blind optimism that was floating around..

That being said, adding KJ certainly raises the floor of the team and Riley would do the same for the ceiling with his scoring at the 3..

I did always preface my nervousness with "I know we're not done yet" to be fair.. lol bumpy road to get here to things are looking up

I think we can all be on the same page here. DGL could improve tremendously as a 3-star sophomore, and still be getting only 10 minutes a game on a top-10 team.
I think he'll play over 10 mpg, especially if we don't get Riley.

Illinois has the best opportunity for Will Riley and they sold that well. Still, 18 year old kids don't always do the most logical thing.

How much of the decision is what he wants or are others involved?

Scholarship limits don't matter much in a world where top players are being paid seven figures.
Is there any rule against not giving a guy a scholarship and instead paying him a huge amount of money? If he doesn't have a scholarship maybe he can just skip classes? I mean why waste valuable training time in class/studying? What a crazy state of the World right now.

I certainly don't have any data on this, and I agree we haven't had rashes of injuries, but Coleman certainly had tendonitis for extended periods, and I'm pretty sure Goode missed time too (can't recall the reason). I do also acknowledge earlier posters who commented on fitness level. Anecdotal evidence seems to be that we've done well in end-game situations. And I also agree that being able to maintain motivation might be the key ingredient to any trainer being successful -- there are many paths, as long as you stick with them.

As far as pics go, we only ever see Illinois guys' pics, and it's pretty easy to make a guy look leaner, or more cut, with a couple days of water/food/workout changes. That's not a criticism, just a point that photos don't tell the story nearly as much as the stuff above.
