A Jakucionis interview came out on one of the Lithuanian basketball news sites. Tried to translate the relevant part as accurately as I could.

Illinois/NCAA related part:

"The conditions to get better are freaking great. I really value the practices for developing individual skills. In the USA you can have as many of them as you want. You can invite 2 or even 5 coaches and they will help you practice individually, throw some balls to you. You can do that 24/7. I really liked that. All the facilities, for physical training etc. My decision was based on that. Possibilities as well - after all the USA basketball level is very good in the NCAA. When you compete against the BEST youth players, I think you get better the most."

I believe Robert addressed this topic at some point in the past two years. Quite a bit of the incoming revenue can be justifiably split among multiple sports programs within the school. Unfortunately, the methodologies used to split those dollars differ among colleges/universities. Hence we find ourselves often comparing apples to oranges. (Example: Illinois might direct more of the "gray area" revenue to basketball, whereas Wisconsin may direct it towards football.)
I also wonder if money to buy out a coach at L'ville counts as revenue

Semi-related note, it is interesting to look at Illinois compared to Wisconsin on this site. This is overall athletic revenue for 2022:

WISCONSIN: $150.1 million (#22 nationally)
$90.0M rights/licensing
$38.1M ticket sales
$11.0M student funds
$7.1M contributions
$0 student fees
$4.0M other

ILLINOIS: $145.7 million (#24 nationally)
$72.3M rights/licensing
$41.0M contributions
$15.7M ticket sales
$6.9M school funds
$3.4M student fees
$6.5M other

So we had almost six times as much in "Contributions" as Wisconsin? Obviously I feel like these categories are hardly standardized, lol.

The depth is unquestionably superb. The talent at the top of the roster might not be quite like it was last year - I mean...I wouldn't necessarily be willing to bet anyone doing what Terrence did (probably won't need anyone to be either) - but hope KJ, if he does indeed end up being that top guy, can prove to be a fine, solid alpha at this level.
I think thats fair. Nobody is going to be Terrence and nobody should expect that. He just had the individual greatest single season in Illini history.

I love last year's team and I love a lot of the guys from last year's team but this team looks to simply have way more guys that can create their own shot and open up opportunities for other. Last year they had Terrence and Marcus who were good enough to do it all by themselves and Coleman shot well but the other guys were solid role players but didn't really create(Guerrier, Harmon, Dainja, Ty, etc).

On paper this team should be more versatile with KJ, Riley, Hum, and Boswell plus another season of development for Ty, DGL, and Tre. There might not be a 20 pt scorer but might have 5 or 6 guys that average double figures.

Feels like the Flying Illini
Kendall, Nick, Kenny Lowell and Marcus could all create their own shot. Larry was great on fast break and Steve could nail the open jumper.

The USA remains “top of the pyramid” in basketball. Ask an England soccer fan what it’s like to have had that and then lost it.

It surely does not.
honestly, I bet it does if they got donors to put up the money, then it is money that came in & went out of basketball budget...but I think the buyout was a bit over 7 million over 3 years...so either way not going to move L-ville that much. think it is more a statement of how 1 time donations may affect this, such as when we updated Ubben I would think those funds would get added to Illinois basketball revenue for the year.
