St Louis Cardinals 2024

Or they realize Burleson sucks against left hand pitching. Barely clearing the Mendoza Line this season
Alec Burleson is becoming a pretty good major league hitter. I believe he will work out his issues versus lefthanders. I would prefer him in the lineup as opposed to Contreras at DH and Pedro Pages catching. Just my thoughts.

Not saying he can't become a good major league hitter. Just stating what the stats are showing against vs lefties. I have no problem with Burleson in the lineup vs lefties mainly because our roster is so weak on offense. Hopefully Burleson can break some trends because he is average/below average against lefties, road compared to home games, power pitchers, day games, etc in his short run.

Since Walker has been sent back to Memphis, Burleson may get those at bats.

Rather Burleson than Carpenter. Nothing against Carp but was hoping he was gone along with Crawford. I get the veteran leadership role but no point of having aging vets taking up at bats from youngsters with the offensive production we have seen.

For how many years has this been an issue? It seems like the Cardinals have had problems hitting left-handed pitching? This is not a new phenomenon. MLB didn't come up with a new rule that allows pitchers to throw lefty. In December and January the front office should already have a plan in place to deal with it. Nope 20 years later, it's still a weakness.
OTOH, Why are they not stacked with left-handed SP?
Edited- QUALITY LH SP

No fun until the 9th and then it became no fun again with Goldy and Gorman guessing up there. 30k paid, I’d be shocked id 22k were there. 7,8,9 might be the least impressive stretch of 3 a team could trot out there

For way too many years we have relied upon Goldy and Arenado and hope someone steps up with little success. Nothing has changed except Goldy is aging and Arenado is very blah on offense. Supporting cast keeps changing........lacking quality in most areas. Management has been hoping for "potential" to bloom for 20 years.

I commented on this last season but Mo gets way too much credit over the years. Big pieces were put in place from Jocketty. Mo still trying to find an ace this many years later

Monday-Thursday games are usually low 30s paid. Pretty impressive for the product put on the field.

Beautiful weather today so I can see why extra empty seats :ROFLMAO:
Smallest non-pandemic crowd in the history of Busch III.
Not good!

This has been going on majority of the season with during the week games. The number marked whether 30-35k on average during Mon-Thurs games is just that, a number with less in attendance. Cardinals are making money and still doing fine even if management gripes. Definitely more paid tickets than what is deserved for the product.

wow , never saw that coming , even though probably warranted based on performance.......
I didn't think they'd do either, but he is just guessing at the plate and guessing wrong almost all the time.

But the 8-13K no shows means less money on parking, concessions, Ballpark Village money, etc.

But no matter, DeWitt has already said he won't invest in the team if the fans don't show up. This would be like Apple saying "People aren't buying our product? We'll show them by making the product EVEN WORSE!! THAT'LL SHOW THEM WHO'S BOSS!!"

I wish the DeWitts would just sell the team. They don't care.

It all comes down to averages. They might not make as much on a single game but it happens all season during Monday-Thursday games. On average we are a top 4-5 attendance team each season. If this team drops to a top 10 team(which we are just outside of top 5 right now) the owner is still making a ton of money. If they would drop to a middle of the pack or lower tier attendance team I would get the rationale for DeWitt. Outside of the home opener on a Thursday, majority of Mon-Thurs games are low 30k games this season and jumps up on Friday-Sunday games.

Ballpark Village money is fine. Ton of people show up whether they have tickets to the game or not.

The DeWitt family puts a ton of money back into the community. They are not bums but yes I would have no problem with them selling the team or restructuring from top on down if staying.
