If we can get Belo a lot of tick in this one and the Rutgers game, then hopefully he can be back to full strength for the game @MSU.

Any insiders know exactly how much confidence BU has in Belo? It's hard to tell how far away he actually is from his old self.

Nope. Fonso is playing 30 mins a game, averaging 15 pts and shooting > 40% from both three-pt range and overall. There's no way RJ is ready to approach any of those numbers. He's solid for short spells, and he'll move up the curve by next season. Granted, Plummer's D leaves something to be desired. Without his mins and shot, we're not within shouting distance of the title.

It's much less demoralizing to other teams to see a shooter like Fonso waiting on the bench to enter than it is to try to stick with him off ball screens as he pops.

It seems the most important thing is for Belo to practice regularly with the team. One reason why his passing wizardry sometimes goes awry since he returned is b/c the starters aren't used to playing with him every day. So we end up with TOs like we had the other night when DMW didn't keep his head up, and one I observed @ Maryland when he made a brilliant pass down through the key for which Omar was completely unprepared ("hands like skillets" in @sacraig's memorable description of Omar's challenges.) If you're playing next to the guy regularly you get well used to how the ball moves out of his hands.

I could be taking the tone of this wrong, but it seems as if you're tossing Rutgers is as a throw in game. The game @ Rutgers might be the toughest game that we have left on our schedule, with all do respect to Michigan State, Michigan and Ohio State. They are a completely different animal at home. For us to win that game, an A+ effort with A+ execution will be required.

Again, I could be taking the tone wrong...just seemed like you think Rutgers is a prep game for Michigan State.

None of those four will be anything other than arduous for us.

He really does. I almost wonder Robbie Hummel sees a little bit of himself
RJ would love to get caught up in a running game, and as a freshman he probably wouldn't know when to hold back. That would kill us against MSU, Rutgers, and ofc Purdue.
He looks like A Flyin’ Illini type of player. I am NOT saying he will be as good as Battle and the rest but I think he could play that style of basketball.

What do you guys think about starting RJ at the 2 or 3 and bringing plummer off the bench the rest of the season? Plummer's defense hurts, even if he is a great shooter. RJ might actually have a good shot and play better D than Plummer, so its worth it to find out. Plus its demoralizing for other teams to see a lethal shooter like Plummer and Curbelo coming off the bench to torch them after dealing with Kofi, Trent, DMW and Grandi
Plummer is a catch22. He was lights out in the first half, but his defense in the 2nd half was key in Purdue taking over. RJ needs more minutes. I can see him taking some of Grandison’s and Plummers time depending on the matchup. I don’t see him starting anytime soon.

Rules are rules, I guess. But that seems like an out of date rule.
Woodson, for as much as he says he is a bridge between old school and new school, is and always will be a Bobby Knight disciple. From the scuttlebutt, it appears that the "curfew" violation provided Woodson with a perfect opportunity to legitimately send an overdue message. There has been some real internal conflict and faction development amongst the players. Durr has the attitude that he is way better than perceived and deserves much more playing time. Stewart and Johnson feel unequal praise between the backcourt and the touted forecourt, and rookies Bates and Lander look up to those two.

RJ is exactly what this team needs and I was hoping that Hutch would be another. Would be great if Frazier, Plummer, Curbelo, and DFW were all 3-4 inches taller. Great basketball players with superb skills, but having them all in the game at once is a liability on defense, especially Plummer and Curbelo. Fortunately, they are plus players on the offensive end. The three frosh can provide both ends quite efficiently, but a guard like Frazier is a needed gift to keep the super quick PGs who can't shoot but love to drive out of the lane.

Lander played last year ....I know he's classified as a frosh but he's really got a year on the court and he's worse this year than last year....he was nothing to brag about last year ....maybe needs to play with a ponytail instead of that bun-o-rama....looks like it might affect his balance ...

He keeps his blunts there. ;) Forgot he wasn't a true freshman.
