I really want to like this, but I can't because as I said before, the Bryant situation worries me. Of course he wants to play. He's a baller, man. I had a couple concussions during my playing days and went back out there as well. Pat's going to do and say whatever he can to get back on that field. I sure did. But now that we understand the heightened risk of getting a second concussion while the brain is still healing and the much higher risk of permanent injury, it's just not worth it in my eyes. Pat has a long NFL career ahead of him, I just would hate to see something happen to him, especially with a bye week coming up that would give him a good 3 weeks to heal. I know he wants to play, but if he was concussed, I hope the medical staff acts responsibly.

Don't want another Curbelo, or Toews, or Roenick, or Lindros, or McMahon

Any word today concerning injuries and will not be able to play Saturday.

Only guy really in doubt is T Strain … Couple guys with some nagging stuff but should be good to go …

PB & TC should be full go rodeo … But don’t expect PB to practice this week … He might but good chance they just go off how he’s feeling and try to hold him back a little … PB is like Trent was … Kid absolutely hates not practicing …

Patterson & T Brooks also good to go …

Really hope the crowd still shows up in big numbers (IIRC, the sellout tracker was above 54k already ... so a "bad" crowd visually would mean a LOT of no-shows). I doubt our fans would get too bummed out because of a loss at #1, but you never know. Weather right now in Champaign looks like your prototypical crisp fall Big Ten football game, so hopefully we have that still going for us!

I know it's an 11:00 am game and all, but we will need another great crowd in this one. It's probably unrealistic to expect the home field advantage we had vs. KU or Michigan, but the guys are likely in for a tough game, and they will need our support!
It's Dads Day, so crowd should be pretty good.

This is still inaccurate. Betting lines have 0% to do with the amount of money bet into retail shops. They are set by sharp books (i.e. Pinnacle/Circa/etc) generating fairly accurate lines put together by sophisticated models. Lines are then adjusted by either a) bettors with better models betting into them, or b) new information adjusting models.

If this board accumulated $1 million to go randomly bet into a rec book like espnbet, we might move espnbet's line for a short period of time. Then everyone with better models, or people who simply notice that Pinnacle doesn't move, will go bet the other side and ESPNBet would be forced back to the original number.

The good news is, we did get some buyback overnight. The -3 got hammered all the way through the pick'em though. That is never a good sign, but it's still early. View attachment 37017
Then I’m confused. What drives those line adjustments? If they aren’t a carefully calculated response to bets being placed, why are lines ever adjusted after the open?

Memorial Stadium Sellout Tracker update for Minnesota:
The ticket availability as it sits right now looks very similar to the where things ended with last year's Wisconsin game (54,205). With the pace of ticket sales this past week, a rough game on Saturday, and now a less than desirable game time for Minnesota, I don't see sales exploding this week. Perhaps another 1,000 sold between now and Saturday. You'll hear it from me if reality proves otherwise!

Since 9:00am this morning there were 159 tickets sold.

Just as a reminder to everyone RE: the crowds, getting in the mid-50s effectively gives us a "sold out" environment ... so that should always be the new baseline goal with this growth in attendance. The difference in visuals is actually fairly crazy. Pretty much, it seems once we get over 50k, almost all of that extra attendance goes directly toward filling out the upper deck and avoiding those somewhat embarrassing empty spots. Thankfully, it looks like we are already there for the Minnesota game.

Data inputs drive everything. Sportsbooks collect data on users ability to more accurately predict the close of markets than they do. Sharp books accept the wagers of those bettors who can beat the lines and move their lines accordingly when bet into. Recreational books (FD, DK, MGM, etc) kick those bettors out instead, and they move their lines based on what the sharp books do.

It has nothing to do with "anyone" betting into them, and everything to do with who is betting into them.

I'm sorry, I know this is off topic. People keep saying this same thing, that it has to do with getting 50% of the action on each side. It tends to work out that way when the line is efficient, but these are inefficient markets. Inefficient and useless are different things though, it's still a far better metric than the collection voices claiming a line is great when they think it's good and meaningless when they don't. 😁

they won't put 5 big ten teams in the playoff

we would need oregon and penn state to win out and probably for ohio state to lose at least one if not two more games to have a shot.

the only way we have a guarantee is if PSU/Oregon win out, IU and OSU each finish with 3 losses and we win out.

we're back to that 2019 division title math. it's not happening

If us, tOSU, and IU all finish 10-2 we would have the strongest resume. Not saying we would get in over them, but it's certainly not far fetched.

We shall see if I'm right but based on BB's press conference today, Pat Bryant won't be playing Saturday.

And yes, I'm aware of what BB said.

EXACTLY. I don't want him be back; I just want him to be healthy. If he's healthy and can come back then by all means, but don't rush it man. Your brothers have got you for a game or two. Play the long game. The Curbelo thing really bothered me; it still kind of bothers me.

No he’s mostly likely going to be cleared and playing.
