Wish they would lock on to 6'4' PG Nolan Traore who plays for France. But he has a 2-year contract and may already be ready to be another high '25 draft pick.

Maybe a possibility? Don't know if we truly have a shot but...

(per Piper) staff offered him, had the zoom with him, and OA went to see him so... 🤷‍♂️

Don't know if we're really targeting him...Bama's in here although they seem to be leaning and leading for Jasper...Ole Miss is in here although this crystal ball is from a very inaccurate predictor...

but according to Piper...staff offered him, had the zoom with him, and OA went to see him so... 🤷‍♂️

FWLIW, I love his game. Thought he was the best USA guard (U18 team with Morez and Fears), by a country mile. Consummate PG and he can score too

How can you not like a guy this explosive? I've been away for awhile nursing covid. Could somebody post a profile somewhere? I'd like to know ht.,school, and Illini chances. Thanks in advance.

#59 on the 247.
Remained #41 in the composite...better than I thought.
Also, #55 on On3.
#71 on On3 industry (this is no surprise - Riley fell to #30 in this one - they aren't reclass friendly)

Regardless of rankings, feels pretty concludeable that not reclassing would've been best for his game.

all depends on how you look at it. he's going to be ~$500K (pure guess) ahead compared to staying in HS. if he has a big year, he's setting himself up well for year 2. once kids start college, rankings don't matter much

There's a chance he might've gotten KJ level $$ so from a $$ standpoint, it probably makes sense. But that "if he has a big year" - that's a pretty big "if." Trend doesn't suggest that guys similar who reclass have that great success...particularly as freshman.

Same might probably be said for Riley. But he's a year older, surely way more talented, and his game seems pretty well rounded too...outside of maybe the strength aspect.

All in all, he did what he and family felt was best for him and went to a spot which...although it's a downgrade in terms of program status and success...he'll have the ball in his hands and get a chance to show out. And hopefully we can move on and pivot well as well with one of these top tier guards staff is targeting.

He needs a year of development. Where are you going to develop more, as a HS senior or at a major college program? And getting paid to do that? Major bonus especially for a player who doesn't plan on being in college for 4 years anyway.

I agree with you- in today’s system I don’t blame the players at all for reclassifying to get paid a year early and get in a college program, even if it means you stay in college 2-3 years instead of one, it’s probably worth it for most kids

It seems like everyone is saying Fears wants to be one and done - but he was never likely to be one and done - and this may be an acknowledgement of that, if he’s going to be in college for a few years and transfer a couple of times to get the money and chance to shine, it makes some sense to do that a year early so you are going in the draft a year younger- he’ll be old enough to be draft eligible next year anyway, may as well have a year of college under your belt the first year you are eligible
