As most anyone here would agree, Ray J was an elite player. However, most likely he would not have raised the ceiling for the 2023-24 Illini season. You never know for certain though.
I think he gives you a shot at a B10 title. But he doesn't get us past UConn.

This is common when you don't have a good argument.

Just razzing a bit... but I personally do not see how we missed him at all last year. We made an Elite 8 and RayJ was 3,063 out of 3,070 eligible players in turnovers per game.
I don't think we did. But at the time of the recruitment, it was considered a loss. Certainly hope no one is pretending otherwise.

I'm just saying if one wants to razz people for takes that soured later, own it. Don't act like you're just making an innocent comment. It's all in good fun right now.

In any case, anytime we lose a recruit we hoped to get, it's a miss. It's silly to pretend otherwise, and maybe sillier when we can pretty well rest assured that this staff will get someone.

This isn’t what happened and it’s never what happens lol. It’s people like you, who for no reason, will bring up a perfectly reasonable opinion which could be seen as negative during the best of times. Then you claim this board is a cesspool of negativity.

It’s not though, it’s perfectly reasonable to of wanted the pg search to go better last year. Which is fine! Everyone here loves Brad, as they should, but you can’t always get what you want.

Cable news and social media have ruined your brains to the extent that if you aren’t acting like a victim for five minutes you’re scared that your heart will stop beating.

I've already said all of this myself.

Have owned every comment I've ever made on this board as well, so no issues there.

Is it weird I would ride with our second five over more than half the starting rosters of the big ten?

As of now:
Kylan
Will
Ty
Hum
Tomi

So second five would be:
DGL
KJ
Tre
Booth
Morez
Honestly have no clue what our starting five is going to be at this point. If you threw all those names into a hat and pulled out five names, I wouldn't really be surprised at any of them.

Folks, KJ is on all the draft boards. He is young but incredibly skilled and if you think he isn't starting by regular season you are have not been paying attention. Will is the 3, KJ is the 2 and Ty is coming off the bench. I love TY and have always been his champion on here, but did you watch Brad's presser? He created this roster for a reason and it was all about shooters and increasing the % of 3 point shots.

I agree with you. The lineup that the insiders have suggested (Kylan, KJ, Will, Hum, and Ivisic) gives you shooters at all five positions. Not a super quick lineup, but extremely skilled.

Last I checked RJ didn't play here...

Gents, unless you have a time machine no need to compare RJ Dennis and Domask. We had a great year and Domask exceeded our expectations.

BU coarse corrected on the recruiting side, we now have two very good PGs. He also didn't wait on anybody without pivoting to other options (Storr to Demin to KJ & Riley).

One thought for why that wouldn't be the lineup is that there are only 2 non shooters on the roster (Ty and Morez) so maybe they try to keep those two split up by having Ty with the starters? (No idea which of KJ, Riley or Hum I would predict to sit in that lineup) I'm assuming Morez and Ivisic pretty much share all the minutes at the 5. I'm also aware that Morez showed more jump shooting this past year, but I'm guessing he won't be taking many 3's yet.

Honestly. I think Domask was far better than RayJ and I don't know if he gets there with RayJ on the team and them playing more traditionally.

If you've could've kept Domask in his role and put RayJ as a secondary option then yes they would have better.

In hindsight I think they were missing rim protection and more consistent shooting(Harmon forgot how to shoot halfway through the season and Guerrier was inconsistent).
This is the one drawback of getting old. Once Guerrier became a father, his focus wasn't totally on basketball. I don't blame him. I was happy for him. Just a part of life.

KJ is a freshman that will need to adjust to the NCAA game. Tons of talent but won't start until late in the season.

Ty started every game on an Elite 8 team that was made up of seniors. Now he is an upper-classman and is the team's best defender on a young team. You need some balance.

Per Underwoods presser, Morez has been the leading rebounder EVERY SINGLE PRACTICE..... I wonder what BU is going to do with that should it continue to be the case???
Seems Morez has taken the title from Ty. That has to be a real battle in practice. Will see how Tomislav affects that once he is on campus.
I think the idea that you may want Ty or Morez on the floor at about all times (but not at the same time) to be a good one - so one of those guys should start and one off the bench.

Don't think we are that far off. Again, I'll go back to Brad's presser. He recruited a class of shooters to shoot fast, often and from three. Whether Ty starts or not (like last year) this team is being built on shooting.

Ahhhhh yes! And so begins the part where things are now going so great in the offseason..... after wringing hands for weeks, that fans have to make sh#t up to argue and wring hands over until practice starts!!

Morez can shoot.
