KJ is a freshman that will need to adjust to the NCAA game. Tons of talent but won't start until late in the season.

Ty started every game on an Elite 8 team that was made up of seniors. Now he is an upper-classman and is the team's best defender on a young team. You need some balance.
I don’t doubt this, but who do you see Ty guarding? If he’s on the floor with Kylan, Riley, Humrichous, and Ivisic, I assume he’s guarding the other teams two. Last year I felt he struggled some against quick guards, granted some of those were PGs.

It's going to be interesting seeing what role DGL plays on this team. I imagine he could defend the smaller, quicker guards.

Is it weird I would ride with our second five over more than half the starting rosters of the big ten?

As of now:
Kylan
Will
Ty
Hum
Tomi

So second five would be:
DGL
KJ
Tre
Booth
Morez
Basically...

our starting five is (at least) top 2 in the B10 and our bench 5 is better than the starting five of more than half the B10.

I think Ty would be pretty necessary with that group to guard the opposing teams best wing/big guard.

Also, some of Ty's struggles against smaller quicker guards were exacerbated by not having a rim protector of which Ivisic and Booth can both provide(maybe Morez too depending on how well he jumps). Really no rim protection was a big part of the entire teams problem.

Having a size advantage on the perimeter and using it to run opposing teams off the perimeter has been UConns entire defensive gameplan the last two years but the dribble penetration doesn't hurt as much when they challenge every shot at the rim.

I hope BU and OA pay attention to this board all season so the they they know when to make the switch.

I agree, and I believe that he'll become a good threat to pick and pop during his illini career, I just don't think it'll be this year. But if Morez would like to prove me wrong that would be great.
I agree with you and I would add, Morez is a 5. That's where he finds his comfort zone--back to the basket and posting up. Gives us two good centers.

It's a nice thought, but let's not get carried away. It's much too soon to evaluate our talent. Maybe we'll get some clues from early informal practices in July and August.

I think Morez is a post-up 5, too. It will be interesting to find out how Brad uses him. I feel like he has enough defense skills to keep himself on the court though.

I suppose I too can get used to rooting for laundry as opposed to rooting for a mediocre or bad team with personalities that we've known for 3 or 4 years.
Aww man! Does this mean I have to care about the details about the jerseys now?

I hadn't put that together.

Maybe I can just focus on terrific basketball.

Ahhhhh yes! And so begins the part where things are now going so great in the offseason..... after wringing hands for weeks, that fans have to make sh#t up to argue and wring hands over until practice starts!!

Hmmmm....lets see...where did I leave those donuts? DOH!!

Okay look I know I’m doing the same thing here but the arguing and wringing of hands was pretty open and shut. But there have been twice as many posts like this where people put fuel on the fire and say “just yesterday we were so good and now we’re fighting again.” I think it’s funny, personally, but I’m just pointing it out

So if Chester moves to 3rd school then Amani will transfer again to follow an assistant coach?
don't know about the 3rd school but WV is significantly closer to home than Illinois was. Also likely to result in more PT at WV (vs Illinois). I see this move as a win win for Illinois, like Harris, Goode, Butler, Dainja....
