Didn't even think about that until you mentioned it. Since I live in the Des Moines area, I was also able to follow Darian DeVries at Drake. Watched his kid play in high school a few times as well. Will definitely have games between those two circled on the calendar with all of the Illini and Des Moines-area connections.

I haven't followed other schools too much this portal season, but K-State now has Coleman and Onyenso. Was thinking they still had Kaluma too but did he end up going somewhere else? edit: can't find where Kaluma has gone so I take it he's still undecided?

Nate Conley really worked that one well for Hawkins … He’s got a great relationship with O and our staff … He also is very close with a certain elite 2025 player we have MAJOR ties to …

Johnson got Tommy'd too, so we have that going for us. Not to mention his 2 Illini teammates on the U18s.

The big question is will he spurn the pull of UK. Guessing Pope give us a chance.
