from time to time he may throw zone at the opponent. Not as a way of life, but just to disrupt chemistry of the opponent.Brad may shock everyone and have a bit of a match up zone in his bag for this season - with that kind of size and length.

Everyone keeps saying having too much length could actually be bad for defense because of quick guards. While I have no idea how good any of our players actually are on defense because our whole team is new, I would counter-argue that the length will make filling gaps, picking passes, and protecting the rim much easier. Even if quick guards get by the first lane of defense, they have to shoot a layup over a 7 footer coming to help. Should be interesting. The question is....how will a group with that type of size deal with quicker, shifter perimeter players.
Last year, we had all kinds of trouble keeping guys out of the lane, which inevitably led to help which resulted in uncontested kick out threes OR drive, collapse, dish then dunks.
Having a shot eraser will most definitely help.
Offensively, it's phenomenal. The other side of the court is where it can get dicey.
What about Kofi and Trent as a rim protector and seasoned point guard? It’s going to be such a great thing to have a true 7 feet 1 inch rim protector and a seasoned point guard.
Our team will look as different than it has in a long time, for sure since 2005 and maybe ever.
Starters will be all great shooters and will go like this: 7’1”, 6’9”, 6’9”, 6’6” and 6’2”. That is crazy.
Pope is awful at the recruiting part of the job. Everyone on the circuit says the same thing and he's not a fun conversation. They can talk whatever they want … From their couch in March …
They wanted Cal gone because he can’t make the 2nd weekend anymore … Just to hire a guy who has NEVER made the 2nd weekend …
No one fears Mark Pope on the recruiting trail … He did not win a single high profile recruitment this off season … Not one …
And we knew since the weekend
He is 12/12 for crystal balls. Can they change predictions or is it once you make your prediction it stays until the player makes the decision
I don't think it's worth worrying about whether our height is a benefit or a hindrance until we see them play together.Everyone keeps saying having too much length could actually be bad for defense because of quick guards. My understanding agrees that Tomislav is not a shot blocker, just a big dude that can alter shots. I do remember hearing from Brad that Booth is "elite" at shot blocking. Those two playing together could throw a tough look to opposing offenses in the paint.I am the FURTHEST thing from an expert to be certain, but Tomislav does not appear to be a great shot blocker. He doesn’t have that quick twitch athleticism. HOWEVER, he is 7 foot 1 so if he can move his feet and put his hands straight up in the air he can alter a lot of shots and just make attempts at the rim more difficult.
That would be of great benefit. For all Coleman did for this program, and he did a lot, last year was a layup drill for opposing big men. Illinois almost single-handedly put Julian Reese in the NBA.
To be clear, the above comment is not meant as a slam to Hawkins. Love the guy and I find his Internet presence hilarious. He was just ill-equipped to guard big men and it showed. Tomislav will help with that. I just wouldn’t expect huge block totals. JMHO.
Yes, the average salary for the life of the contract is. But this year alone you're seeing contracts that make 7M men, you think that will stop?Top 5 money is 5.7M ...
If we make the second weekend again, then I think Brad will get a .5-1M bump getting him to 5-5.5M. That is an 11-22% raise.
If we overperform and maybe get to a Final 4, then maybe he surpasses 6M.... but I still firmly stand that 7-9M by next season is absurd

Well done. Well done. POTD.
A substantial part of that bench would start for a lot of teams.Just to settle the debates …
Starters:
Boswell
KJ/Ty
Riley
Humrichous
Ivisic
Bench:
Ty/KJ
Tre
Rez
DGL
Booth
Davis?
Redshirt:
Jakstys and I could potentially see Davis redshirting as well ...
I thought it was "and the rest"...
they might get Jasper Johnson but Jaspers already tied in with Coleman Hawkin’s agent … Who for those who don’t know goes WAY back with Antigua … Jasper is no lock to UK … And if Jasper goes elsewhere it’ll be like DJ Wagner going to UK over Louisville … Nail in the coffin …
Wow I personally have a hard time believing BU OA and Riley are going to be together at UK in 25/26 but I guess it is what it isSomeone on his own staff has told me how bad he is … Everyone said how great the Riley visit went at UK … I had UK staff tell me that it didn’t go well … I also had UPLAY people tell me it didn’t go well … Will thought Pope was a weirdo …
I do not think it’s going to end well for Pope at UK … I really, really don’t … I think they can probably get to the tourney but I don’t see a 2nd weekend team this year and they might get Jasper Johnson but Jaspers already tied in with Coleman Hawkin’s agent … Who for those who don’t know goes WAY back with Antigua … Jasper is no lock to UK … And if Jasper goes elsewhere it’ll be like DJ Wagner going to UK over Louisville … Nail in the coffin …
I’ve been wrong before, and I’ll be wrong again … But I think I’m right about this one …

True and I am hoping Mr. Small is listening to you...NCAA Tourney is all about match-ups. By the time March rolls around UI will be one of those teams that no one wants to see on their side of the bracket.
As far as BU goes, keep making the 2nd weekend and eventually match-ups will fall your way. So much variance in knock-out style tournaments, just need to keep getting bites at the apple and eventually things will fall your way.
