Fletch makes more like 375k ... And he's still underpaid IMO ...

Dude is worth every penny ... One of the most genuine, knowledgable guys around ... And questioning his ability to be elite in his profession is just crazy ... :ROFLMAO:
on the topic of S&C, did Jon Sanderson move on to a full time position somewhere else in the offseason?

For those who need recruiting discussion in the recruiting thread, is his son a target at this point or are we hunting for bigger game in undergrad recruiting?

And your thoughts without him?

I know that he's a highly ranked 25, but if he jumps a year into 2024, pending what you think of the roster without him on it.....it's hard to project him moving the needle too far. He'll be what....17 and in serious need for physical development (much less player development)?

It you see this team as a second weekend team without him, then I can buy a longer run if EVERYTHING comes together(cohesion, development, roll definition/acceptance and most importantly.... finding "the guy" who can take us home down the stretch).

From a macro level, the pieces look to be very good. If you drill down however, the unknowns FAR outweigh the knowns....which I'm not sure we have one. That's to be expected when you incorporate a complete a full roster flip.

Should we be surprised if Colehawk ends up at Louisville and not somewhere more like UCONN or UNC?

I can’t imagine he and his would be all that thrilled with leaving Illinois and ending up at Louisville. I get the idea of getting as much money as possible but still.
As big a bag as possible AND be the #1 option (probably). That's the most surefire way to help his draft stock. Be THE GUY.

Has Riley made any indication on a timeline, as far as an announcement for reclass/school attending ?

I recall an announcement that he's now at Vandy.

Sheesh. I assume $$$ is the biggest factor for CoHawk, but can he at least go to a contender?
I mean, I want what's best for Coleman, but I also would be plenty happy to NOT see him on a contender. If him getting a big bag happens to overlap with less of a chance of seeing him in the tourney or watching him make a big run in another jersey, then I will be all the more content with him leaving.

FWIW though, I have to imagine part of his approach here will be to get 2 or more teams in a bidding war -- visiting Louisville would just be step 1 in that process.

If he gets a bag of money and that's the best possible situation for him, all the more power to him. I'll be rooting for him as long as he isn't playing against us.

For the love of God, someone please start a Strength and conditioning thread so the rest of us can stop reading this 💩.

The questions about what he does are crazy, if you think he only does S&C, you're missing a lot. To name a few other items that haven't been mentioned, he creates full nutrition plans and even cooks and makes specialized smoothies for the guys when they are in Ubben. I'm pretty sure the reason Ubben has some of the best recovery equipment in the NCAA due to his work in the area. Also keep in mind, Fletch has a basketball background and is allowed full access to the team year round. I've heard this helps a lot when head coach practice time is limited. It's kind of like when @illini0440 was on the team and spent extra time coaching as a player. But hey, maybe he should just have them lift heavier weights 🤷‍♂️

Things Im pretty sure of

1. Fletch has the guys lifting at the right intensity. Many upper level s+c coaches use bar speed tracking technology as opposed to the old percentages that many of us used when we were younger. They’re looking for Xm/s speed and some days that weight is heavier than others because of a myriad of factors.

2. Fletch does a ton work to help the guys improve their kinesthetic awareness. You see the tumbling etc. All that stuff creates new or strengthens pathways in the central nervous system to make guys more comfortable moving in their bodies.

3. Asymmetrically loaded exercises are incredible for building stability from the ground up in your body. Athletes need stability from the floor through their core. Basketball players need that and more because it’s an overhead sport. Stability helps unlock ability because if your body is weak and unstable in certain positions it will naturally avoid it, however if your body is strong and stable through extended ranges of motion you will be able to push it more with lower risk of injury.

4. Altgeld has posted here before on topics such as this and from my recollection kinesiology is also his speciality.

5. Fletch is a top 3 s+c coach in the business with Alan Bishop at Houston and our boy Sanderson.

I can’t help but wonder if he’s waited too late. There’s now only a handful of teams that have positional need and the remaining NIL bucks. What for the last two months has been a seller’s market now favors the buyer. Louisville might not need to toss out $2 million (or even one million) because the suitors with both the need and the means are finite.

Yeah, this sounds like pure conjecture from a talking head on a podcast vs what NBA teams are actually saying, because in reality they wouldn’t care about any of the social media antics

The maturity on the court is a legit topic which did get a lot better this year
For a 2nd rd pick/bottom of the roster guy they absolutely would care about the headache that may come along with it.
