I know Coleman said he was seriously done with school, and wouldn’t want to come back to Illinois if he did come back to school, but I wonder if any of that had to do with him thinking Illinois would take a step back next year with losing TSJ and Domask? With the recent additions, is it possible that final scholarship is being saved for him? If I were him, I would be much more intrigued knowing what the roster will look like for next year with a true PG and a big man to help him defending the post. If Coleman somehow changed his mind, oh my 🚀

Coleman ain't returning, don't even think he will come back to college tbh . I still think the only way he wouldve returned to Illinois would've been with the Domask waiver would've been approved and he could run it back with Domask, Ty, and some splash additions.

No sense worrying about it now.

I’d take Dain for next year only
Booth over Amani I like Booth’s potential more
100% Luke over Jake cmon now 😂
Kasparas over Jase easy
Probably closer than most would expect but I would lean Boswell

Am I the only one who thinks KJ can block DGL a little bit? (not entirely since DGL is likely to go from the bench anyway) If we have gotten Demin or Storr, they are more like threes. KJ is more like a two. However, in this positionless era, I know I am splitting hairs...

I feel like there are so many combinations of starters that make sense which is a real testiment to the roster. To mee it feels like only Kylan, KJ, ant Tomi should be locked in. Hum probably is but if you think about it, him, booth, tre, ty can all seemingly slot into the 3 and 4 around the other starters.

Also - KJ seems like a perfect guard to help get more playing time and usage out of DGL.
Humrichous has a solid chance to be our leading scorer next season.

Well, is it too soon to play this game? Who would you rather have?

T Ivisic or Dain?
Carey Booth or Amani?
Jake Davis or Luke Goode?
Kasparas or Jase Butler?
Boswell or Sencire Harris?

(I've left Nico off of here since he never really projected as a rotation guy for next year, and I'm not including guys like Ty, DGL, or Morez in this either)

And then there's Coleman - might need to include him in this list - obviously we'll know soon on that. And of course that would really hurt, but hopefully the combination of Tre White and Humrizzle can cover for his loss. We'll see how those guys pan out.

And finally, the losses of Domask and TSJ loom large. Again, between White and Humrangus we may be able to account for Domask's loss, with help from the improvements to the roster we've made everywhere else. And I know many are probably bummed we didn't land a high-profile wing to replace TSJ, but in my view he was just an irreplaceable unicorn of a player. He just had such insane production for a guy that didn't need the ball in his hands very often, while also being an outstanding defender. There's a reason that season is in the all-time great Illini discussion for a single-season performance.

The team will look different next year without him, but perhaps an interesting comp might be a more perfected version of the team we saw when TSJ was out for 6 games, which I still think could be very good. As others have said, Brad is awesome at adjusting to his team's strengths, and I'm excited about watching such a team.
All of the Illini adds are much greater than the players that transferred and IMO Illinois has more overall talent on this coming season's team than last year. Hopefully the greater sum of talent in '24-25 can perform as well or better than last season. It's up to coaching and player development this summer and fall. BTW, Morez is a much better player than Amani and will play more, perform better as a freshman than Amani did as a freshman.

Would make no sense for us to pay him what other schools are likely willing to. We've pretty loaded at PF/C/SF. We invested a lot of NIL on Ivisic, Booth, White, Morez, and Hum.

Actually now that I think about it more, I see Kasparas being a lot like Tyrese Haliburton in terms of playing style. Shooting could improve but that vision is already elite.

if we have the chance to bring CH back and don’t, that’s a big mistake IMO regardless of who else is on the roster

Booth, Humichous tandem replaces what Hawkins offers minus Hawkins' experience. Morez just adds to that quality depth as well.

Yeah I agree. I didn't include Morez since he was already committed before the portal period opened and that didn't change during. I guess I was coming at it from the angle of evaluating how did Brad and the staff did in navigating this portal season, before vs after.
