Some have him 1st round, some 2nd, some not at all. While I definitely like his addition, I don't think he's going to be a star right out of the gate.JK is not just any 18 yr old or comparable to incoming H.S. frosh. He's playing very well against 1st round draft picks, even lottery picks, and is considered a likely 1st round pick in 2025 as well by the talent evaluators, draft experts. I'm hoping he plays lights out but not so good that we can enjoy him for 2 years not just one. How many 1st round draft picks have Illini had since 2005? We have very good players in Jakucionis, Ivisic, Boswell, White, Booth, Humichous and Johnson, all who likely play pro ball, with Jakucionis viewed by experts as having most upside and 1st round potential.
My brother-in-law used to drive from St. Louis to pick some up when it was his turn to provide food for his research meetings.“Average passer” is what stuck out to me, as well.
Also… what’s his problem with the Papa Del’s lunch slices? Whenever I’m in town, I’m there at 3pm to scoop as many up as I can!
I suspect this is the new normal for all teams regarding the players at the bottom of their rosters.Nico - cause was his lack of projected playing time given what else the staff was bringing in as transfers, he wouldn't have played much this year again and he wanted more PT, staff wanted him to stay and develop, but it's understandable that he didn't want to mostly sit another year
Glad you’re here, buddy! Any extra info on Jak is appreciated.New user here, from Lithuania. Registered after I heard Jakučionis committed to Illinois. I believe he's going to be a great fit to the American style of basketball. Šarūnas Jasikevičius, who's currently one of the best coaches in Europe, has said a couple days ago that he thinks Jakučionis is the future PG for the Lithuanian national team. He's typically not the one to hype any young players too much.
Jakučionis might not be a prodigy at any 1 skill (although his vision is very good), but he does a lot of things at a very good level on both sides of the floor. Good character kid too, high motor.
Welcome to the board. It would be great to have you here during the season if you are able to watch from Lithuania.New user here, from Lithuania. Thank you! Does anyone want to take a stab at typing the pronunciation into layman’s words??Now that he’s officially an Illini… here’s a reminder from my in-house Eastern European with the pronunciation guide.
"Walking Double-Double"Thank you! Does anyone want to take a stab at typing the pronunciation into layman’s words??
This video looks like it was thrown together in 3 minutes and it probably was. It is clear they have done no research on KJ but wanted to put something up for the Illini clicks. KJ has more than held his own in head to heads vs Egor.Wow the disrespect.prove them wrong coach illini nation believes in your leadership ILL
Aren't these guys Michigan Homers? This was recorded on May 21st, before KJ’s weekend performance. I wonder how much their opinion will change now?
I’d go with Kas-PAHR-us YOCK-uh-CHO-neesThank you! Does anyone want to take a stab at typing the pronunciation into layman’s words??
Alright, I have to stop you there before the J/K jokes get started. Kasparas Jakuciounis. KJ. Not JK.JK is not just any 18 yr old or comparable to incoming H.S. frosh. We'll see. However IMO, I anticipate JK will be more ready to contribute and play at a high level than freshmen Ayo, Trent or Deron. Some have him 1st round, some 2nd, some not at all. While I definitely like his addition, I don't think he's going to be a star right out of the gate.

For Kasparas, the accent would be on the first syllable (KAS-pahr-us). Not that it matters though, but it's how we Lithuanians pronounce that name.I’d go with Kas-PAHR-us YOCK-uh-CHO-nees
