You would have if you were a little older like me and seen the 1981 Quincy Blue Devils team.
I saw both n King was way better. Hamilton was MVP and 300lbs. Griffith was a star at Wisconsin. Jamie Brandon was the #1 of in the nation a couple years earlier with them on the team room. Brandon scored over 3000 pts. They were 32 n 0 and in the championship game went on a 32 to 2 run. Both 7 footers had some meat on their bones and were grown men.

Re: Miller, I get the vibe it’s a similar situation to Alan Griffin. Good kid, but surrounded by drama not of the kid’s making. If I were Brad I don’t think I’m signing up for that extra drama with the shape our program is currently in. Agree with others there should be as good or better options available which are all drama free.

Feel bad for both kids as I feel like both got bad advice. No NBA team is going to draft Alan or Ace as a lead guard. Both would have been better off developing into defensive stoppers a la Trent and working on their 3 pt shots. That’s how those guys stick in the league and we are proving to be a great program for developing those skills. It’s not always the “stars” that stick in the NBA. Rather, guys who can be stars in their roles.

So…Hawkinson from SHG. Had a great 3A tournament and championship win. 2023 kid… thoughts on him?
Only 6’5 and plays underneath a lot. Can make the 3. Very good rebounder.

Any idea what’s up with Mac Entiene for UCLA?

Doesn’t seem to be playing or dressed. We couldn’t wait for him to be an Illini…

I'm not gonna dump on Miller, but I don't understand people clamering for him to come back. He was a very good player, but we sound like a guy desperate to get his ex girlfriend back.

Could care less if he is desperate. He's a good player. I would absolutely take him back.

He averaged 2.5 2 pt attempts, and 5 three pt attempts a game, in 25.5 minutes a game, 31 games. He took a 2 pt shot once every ten minutes he was on the court. Even Plummer gets 3.7 two point attempts in 30 minutes a game. I would rather give those minutes to the freshmen guards, and see the portal in a month. Jmho, I think we can do better.

It's not a fair comparison to judge an 18 year old starting against Big Ten teams to a 24 year old. FYI - Plummer averaged less 2-pt attempts per game as a 22 year old than freshman Miller. If you account for minutes played, they were on similar trajectory. Miller was going to take a substantial step forward this year, unfortunate to have the knee injury.

Without knowing what our other options are?

I'm viewing it in a vacuum. I would take back Miller in a heartbeat without the context of who's available. Beyond the coaching staff, it is incredibly difficult to know who's actually available (in the portal or considering the portal and would seriously consider Illinois), therefore I can't worry about that context. Taking an athletic wing that can shoot it, has a history with the coaching staff, was primed to make a leap seems like a great combination.

Yeah, that happened. But he was already out for the season before that. Considering he's back to sitting on the bench with his teammates I don't think the spitting thing ended his UCLA career but who knows.
Didn’t know he was there. Not watching. Enjoying Duke getting throttled by Va Tech.

Surprised to hear folks entertaining the idea of getting AM back. Brad gave the guy everything and he returned the favor by transferring. Hope it all works out for AM but the orange and blue ship has sailed on and should not be turned around to go pick him back up.
