I'm certainly no expert but the following statement implies you must win three matches.

In team match-play competition, a total of five points will be available with one point being awarded for each individual match. Winning teams will advance to the semifinals and subsequently, the finals. The first team to win three points within the team match will advance, or in the case of the final match, be declared the national champion.

You can get 3 points by winning two matches and tying two matches.

It's certainly possible that NCAA rules are different, but at least for the Ryder Cup, a halved match is worth .5 points. So you can get to 3 points with winning one match and halving the rest.

No you can tie two matches and win two and win the match I think. A tie gives you 1/2 a point.

That implies you need 3 points, not wins. 2 wins, 2 ties = 3 points if a tie is 0.5

Forrester takes a lead. GT is currently winning if scores were to hold now. Lots of golf still left.

Hunt has struggled a bit down 3 now and will probably lose to GT 6th golfer. Not good that was one I thought we had a big advantage on. OSUs 5th golfer just went eagle (hole in one) birdie. We need one of Ryan or Tyler to do that come on boys.

Now Tyler bogies and loses. Danger time now need 1 guy to step up on Illinois who’s down.

Voois is -2 and losing because his opponent has been unreal all event. I didn’t like Voois matched up him. Hes been so steady I would’ve put him with a GT player that’s streaky out hunt on Tai.

This is so stupid, for real. Eliminating double or worse in college golf is what makes you a good player. And match play mitigates the damage caused by that, along with allowing players to not have to play to score depending on their opponents shot. I cannot beleieve this. AGAIN.

Goecke put it in the water on 16 after GT put it close. Likely gonna be dormied after 16

That is the matchup I didn't understand myself, I would have done the same thing. I thought we got to choose the matchups too, but I it's hard to second-guess Coach Small with what he's done for the program.

Looks like it’ll be up to Voois to pull it off as we’re in deep trouble in the other 2 matches

Match play just doesn't seem to be our thing. Elite 8 every year just about, just no good after that. I wonder why
