They have offered kids from Illinois. This was one of the first things Bielema did during his 1st 2 weeks on the job. He re-offered many of the top Illinois prospects for the '22 class. Another thing to factor in is the academic requirements in order for these HS kids to actually be accepted into Illinois.

Of the Top 15 (on Rivals.com), 6 have been re-offered by new staff and some of the others have a very small offer sheet (possibly due to lack of tape or restricted football in Illinois due to Covid-19).

I do believe that Coach Bielema will honor his statement in recruiting Illinois kids to the Fighting Illini program, however there are obviously guidelines he has to follow in order to fulfil university standards and academics.

Look at where the top kids in Illinois signed 2021. Why are you even mentioning academics? This hasn't been an issue with signing Illinois kids.
It takes time for a new staff to get going. They will recruit who they want and get the results they want. Everything will work out in the end.

Micah Jones, WR from Gurnee, in the transfer portal. I assume we have interest in a position of need?

I'm not sure he's really a WR. I think more of a TE, so not really a need. And, many reports are that footspeed was even less than expected/hoped

For those that don't like memory lane, please stop using definitive words like "never", "no" (no one. nobody, etc) has ever done, and statements that are of that nature. The universe did not just begin when a person became interested.
Nicely said!

I really hope you are right. I can't really reference a time that this has worked in UI football. (watching since the 80's).

wiki says hes 6'4" , 175 lbs. if accurate, that's a skinny tight end.
Im sure the staff knows all about him and if interested, Armstrong can help .

just read from another source , hes 6'5", 205. either way , still too thin for tight end

Just crazy, considering we might just get a top 100 commit this week.

So would Micah have 2 or 3 years left? Great potential but makes you wonder why he got only a little garbage playing time. His attitude or just buried under the depth at ND. Definitely looks like a change of scenery would help him.

Who is this other top 100 recruit that is mentioned. Let's discuss.
