This is where I was surprised: Tre White starting and playing more minutes over ty Rodgers and Will Riley (auto parts).

I assumed Rodgers would be there because of experience or Riley because of talent. Interesting.

C. Ivisic or Johnson, Jakstys
F. Humrichous, Booth
W. Rodgers, Riley, Davis
G. Boswell, White
G. Jakucionis, DGL
Agree that a rotation of 8-9 is far more likely than a true 10-man rotation. Small nitpick, but I see Riley as closer to a guard with his current build + game, whereas White as a W/F. I wouldn't be surprised to see White and Rodgers playing a decent chunk of their minutes at the 4 (behind Hum) to open up more minutes at G/W for the KJ/Boz/DGL/Riley group. Also, I love Booth's potential but wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being the person on the outside looking in out of that group of 10, especially if he's dead set on playing the 4. He doesn't have a standout skill that sets him apart from the competition at his spots (Hum is a better floor spacer at the 4, Morez appears to be a better athletic junk yard dog at the 5).

Does anyone remember the names of those two players who bolted to WV for more playing time, along with Coach Frazier?

For some reason, I can't. Oh, that's right; the ten new guys... I remember them just fine.

Don't forget Tre was #35 in his class out of HS has started 55 college games in two years between USC and Lousiville.
That's fair and I'm not discounting his talent....But ty Rodgers was like #55 out of high school and started on a team that went to the elite 8 last year. Also Will Riley is a top 15 recruit after reclassifying.

All good problems to have... I'm still surprised

IMO, if you were to rank Tre, Ty, Will 1-3, I wouldn't have a problem with any order, any way, any how...that's how balanced production is likely to be at that wing spot. Hard to imagine the point totals of those three guys being separated by more than a few points at most...

Ty is a beast, he'll be a starter. He defends, defends some more, and rebounds. He even brought the ball up the floor last year in our year without a point guard. Then he'll steal a few cheap points off rebounds and when opportunities show up.

Ty is simply a great team player on the floor, and IMO he'll get his minutes

I'm sorry, I just don't see it. He may start early-season games, but I think he will trend downwards minutes-wise.

Rodgers was a supplement to a roster with very, very good scorers with his strength being hitting the glass on both ends of the floor. He is an effort guy who will do the little things to help win. He was a nice piece to the puzzle. That said, let's be honest...he's a liability on the offensive end. He didn't give us a ton and unless his ability to shoot the ball improves dramatically(and I mean dramatically), that will be much of the same this year. We don't have TSJ and we don't have Domask this year. For the most part, we have an unproven roster. This is going to be a team that's going to need all five guys on the court to be a threat. He's still going to get his share of minutes because every team needs "that guy" who's going to do the dirty work. That's Ty.

With regards to Riley, he needs to be physically stronger. I think he'll score, but he's going to be physically behind a lot of guys and could get abused defensively. It's Ty in reverse.

IMO....White will get the majority of the minutes (initially) because he's probably more balanced and reliable.

We were very fortunate to have a roster of "old guys" last year with a ton of experience. That's a luxury that we don't have this year. It'll be interesting early on and it'll probably be a bumpy ride. I suspect that by the end of December, we'll really start seeing roles being defined. Nobody is sure what that will look like.

Ty has flaws but he does have the most experience in Brad's system and that I think will provide a trust level that Brad default to. I see this similar to a Damonte Williams situation in a lot of ways especially with a roster almost entirely if new guys. Just a guess.

You laid out the balance between these 3 players and I could see all three starting (not same time) and all 3 getting minutes, I just think the first few mistakes by white and Riley will have Brad play ty like last year...a lot the first 3/4 of the game and then play it by ear depending on game situation

Yeah, I will be very surprised if he isn't in the rotation with starter or sixth man minutes. His game has some weaknesses, but he is effective in a lot of ways, and extremely versatile. Strong and scrappy goes a long way when you're as strong and scrappy as Ty.

however it shakes out, this is a great problem to have. I've been a fan for a loong time and our depth has never (yeah, never) been better. Brad has a lot of weapons at his disposal. really looking forward to seeing some interesting combos

Riley's 6"9 and very much has a guard-like skillset.

Probably the biggest lineup we could go with (and feel comfortable doing it) would be: KJ, Will, Ben, Booth, Ivisic/Morez.

You could also go small-ball putting two of the three so-called "wings" (riley, ty, tre) at the 3 and 4 and have Ben playing small-ball five.

Brad should have some real luxury in terms of the different things we can do lineup wise and situation wise. There likely won't be all that many situations where we won't have an adequate solution/answer lineup wise.

Ty’s defensive abilities will garner him starter minutes …rebounding and scoring garbage buckets will be side effects that will bolster those minutes
