With this talent it seems it would not be a problem with scoring. However looking at the stats, it seems more daunting. Assuming KJ can match Marcus’s 16 pg and Tre can match Hawk’s 12 pg (his average at Louisville), that would leave 3 guys to match TJ, QG, and Ty’s 39 pg. That would mean the other 3 guys average 13 pg. Ben, TI, and Kylan averaged 32 pg with their previous teams. The rest of the eight man rotation averaged 6 pg so it would mean more production from the bench. Probably not impossible as seems like less drop off than last year and maybe more minutes from the bench. ( Didn’t look at minutes from last year on new players) Assume at this point the next three would be Ty, Will, and Morez. Not trying to predict starters or eight man rotation but just speculating for comparison. Don’t think many of us would have predicted either Marcus or TJ’s averages last year as some were predicting Luke as the fifth starter. Could also be surprised by this year’s rotation and minutes.

I’m so NOT a scout. But…

I have no idea if KJ is going right or left. I would have no idea how to guard him.

I think he’s next-level great.

And his hesitation move is absolutely killer. The videos show him absolutely wrecking people with that hesitation, either followed by attacking the rim or a step back. His timing is incredible and so confident for someone so young.

he's pretty good

Call me crazy, but the defense KJ faced in these most recent video clips hardly looked comparable to what he’ll face in the B1G.
I agree. The B10 coaches are pretty danged good. He'll face some pretty rugged defenses.

To rehash some of what Kylan Boswell said on Illini sports talk on Saturday:

He was asked who has impressed and he said that
KJ and said something KJ is a stone cold killer, and he doesn’t think people are ready for what he's going to do on the court. He said Trey White is for real, Ty's been in the gym every day working on his jump shot. Dre is working.

Tommy, who just got here, Carey has impressed him in on what he can do. But Morez Johnson is probably the biggest, the most impressive he has been surprised with even as a freshman and big man, but he said nobody expected the stuff he can do on the court. And that’s everything; defense, rebounding, guarding, picking roles, everything. He's been killing it so far. He said there's like nothing they can do to stop him, no matter what they do, they can't stop Morez from doing what he wants to do at the end of the day. He's just too big, too strong for most of the players.

This is the key word. His confidence is through the roof. His demeanor and how he carries himself on the court just screams alpha.

He will be a household name across the country by Christmas. Or I’ll eat my hat.

Houston heat. Here is vegas at 8pm

I hear you. I did Palm Springs for a year...and it's stupid hot. The ramp agents at the airports could only work 10 minutes at a time and then they had to go stand under misters.
At least it's dry. This swamp a$$ is ridiculous.

I'm changing boxers 2 or 3 times a day. The "cooling" ones. You jump in the pool to dry off. I'm only slightly joking.

Morez was committed for two years with absolutely no drama as he rose in the rankings over his teammate James Brown. Never wavered, even when the team completely relaxed in front of him this year. I'm more excited to watch this kid play than anyone in recent memory and it's not just about his m ability, but his commitment to this program and Brad in a changing culture where everyone is looking for a bigger payday.

The way Morez committed - one of the top prospects, almost a five star, and committed three years before his freshman season will start - should not be taken for granted...

nor should his talent be...

There's a very good article on Carey Booth in Sunday's Bloomington Pantagraph. It's also in the News Gazette. You can probably find it in the digital edition.
