From an Iowa site regarding POY:
Kofi, as I've said before, isn't even a basketball player, so how the hell he can be a POY candidate escapes me. He's a giant who lives in the lane and scores from as far out as five feet on rare occasions. He travels, he carries the ball, and if the rules were enforced, he'd foul out in five minutes every game. Now if we're talking rugby POY, Kofi wins easily. As you may be able to tell, I have no respect for his game whatsoever. Kofi couldn't carry Luka's shoes and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath.

Someone please send the clip of freshman Kofi blocking junior Garza's last shot in 2020.

Didn’t you hear? Shaq has lost status as a player as well

You would be well advised to just not read anything written by Iowa fans.

The fact that they can write anything is rather surprising. Like when a horse learns to count, you have to admire the work that went into it
Hey, now. Funny stuff, but…

I'm going to hazard a guess that the Venn diagram of the Iowa Writers Workshop students and the Black and Gold basketball forum is two circles separated by several miles.
Haha! Probably the reason the IWW became what it is: no interesting distractions for miles. No culture. No landscape. No outside intelligent conversation. Definitely no sports (unless wrestling is your thing - shoutout to John Irving).

Ah, nice shout-out to The World According to Garp!

Not to jinx it, but Kofi is still nowhere in any mock drafts, it may be a Garza type situation where his skill set is just not valued by NBA teams
If it's a choice between G league, playing in Europe or coming back for his senior year and making 7 figures in NIL, I think being BMOC for another year sounds pretty good!
Plus, he made great strides between this year and last year in skill set and if he continues that trajectory and can knock down a 12 footer with consistency his senior year and continues to dominate inside, I think he'll get drafted with some guaranteed money in the NBA

Is he actually making or will he make 7 figures in NIL though? Have to figure now with one year under NIL, he’ll have a pretty good idea what he’d make coming back, which should be beneficial in making a decision. I’d love to see him back, but I’m not convinced he’d actually improve his draft stock that much coming back. Then you have to weigh the possibilities of injury. He’s a big and not uncommon for players his size to have injury issues over time. And I believe he’s 22 right now. If he stayed another year, by the time the NBA season rolled around after that season he’d be 24. For a league that drafts on potential, that’s pretty old to be drafted in a spot with guaranteed money.
