With every game bringing a prolonged slump that costs the Illini, I wonder if we could switch it up, even if only for a short time. Go wholesale, take out the starters and replace with a second five of Belo, Hawkins, Goode, RJ, andPayne/Podz. Then have them play a swarming press, and try to run if given the chance. Solely staying with a regular rotation doesn't seem to be working, so maybe this could bring some energy and break the slump. But, what do I know. I just don't see this team reaching a higher level by doing mostly the same thing.
If you play a swarming press with that lineup you'll have Belo, Hawkins and Payne foul out in short order.

Or, a slightly different approach, when the slump comes, get Plummer a shot.

As Tipsheet noted earlier, Georgia coach Tom Crean is the most endangered basketball coach in the Southeastern Conference.
As Ben Frederickson detailed in his column, first-year Mizzou athletics director Desiree Reed-Francois is feeling the booster unrest with coach Cuonzo Martin.
And other SEC coaches are in danger because all of these schools want to win and, well, that’s just not possible. Yet SEC schools, awash in revenues, are willing to spend millions to churn coaches in pursuit of NCAA Tournament berths.

Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg is 1-15 in Big Ten play this season and 6-49 in conference action overall, but he is getting another chance because the school didn't want to fun his $18.5 million buyout.

MYSTERIES OF THE UNIVERSE

Questions to ponder while Illinois coach Brad Underwood gets his blood pressure back under control:
  • How can Big Ten officials allow Illini center Kofi Cockburn to get mugged at the offensive end, then whistle him for touch fouls at the other end?
  • Will Underwood’s outburst Thursday – when he went full Pizza Hut Parking Lot Throw-Down on the officials – force the league to review how Illinois games are officiated?
  • Will the Illini’s comeback bid in the face of all that serve them well as they go forward?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's not just Illini Nation that asks this question about refs and Kofi's muggings..........................................

interesting comments from reporters at the bottom part of the article

Has anyone got their BTT tickets and if so what section/sections are the Illini??

Looking at the B1G standings as they currently stand, it looks like Illinois can clinch the double bye in the B1G Tournament if either Iowa loses at home to Northwestern tomorrow night or if Illinois defeats Penn State Thursday night. Michigan State is also at 7 conference losses with Iowa but Illinois would have the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Spartans.

I must have missed this (taken from the current 2022 Big Ten MBB-WBB Tournament Tiebreaker manual):

The first step for seeding the BTT bracket is to determine the conference champion or co-champions. How will they do that? Glad you asked!

A team that meets the minimum-game threshold [played at least 75% of the average number of conference games played by all BT teams] may be declared Conference Champion in one of two ways, both using results in Conference play only: 1. By having the highest winning percentage. 2. By having the best record when using the “games ahead/games back” method.

There is a footnote to the above:

For example, if Team A has the highest winning percentage in the Conference but Team B has the best record in the Conference using the “games ahead/games back” method, then Team A and Team B would be Co-Champions. Each respective approach applies independently of the other, so a team that is not at the top of the standings using either method would not be Co-Champion. Ties will not be broken for the purpose of determining Conference Champion or Co-Champions, so teams tied at the top of the standings under either method will be declared Co-Champions.

In other words, the BT concedes we got shafted last year. Under the current rules, we would have been declared co-champions with UMich last season. Yet another example of an "Illinois rule." Thanks for nothing, Kevin Warren.

EDIT: And for all the Wolverine fans out there that have been acting like there was no controversy last year, how would you explain the above? Not only has the BT implemented a new rule to award co-champions under that scenario, they have also implemented a 75% rule to specifically prevent a team from not playing games to keep themselves atop the standings. Sound familiar?

I love Kofi more than anyone, but, to be fair, Oscar is an animal, and deserving if he does end up winning it.

It looks like if we win our last 2, we're going to be the 2 or 3 seed in the BTT

If PU beats Wisky - we're the 3, Wisky the 2, PU the 1 seed
If Wisky beats PU - we're the 2, PU the 3 and Wisky the 1 and sole BTT champion (assuming they beat Neb at home, which we'll give them that one)

Either way, playing well and winning the next 2 games is most important - we won't be the 1 seed unless some crazy upset happens

what is the next tie breaker after 3 way head to head?

Assuming Purdue wins Tuesday
Purdue 3-1
Wisconsin and Illinois 1-2

I read this somewhere. Is it correct?

In the non-balanced B1G schedule this year,
Wisconsin had eleven games against the conference bottom 6.
Purdue had 8.
Illinois had 7.
