Watching these other games, the value of kickers and punters just cannot be overstated. So many games hinge on a made 45 yard field goal and a punt inside the 20. We are really fortunate with ours.
I remember one of the Nebraska fans pregame lamented their kicking game. Very prescient.

We've had quite a run of kickers and punters over the last four decades that I've been watching. A few years of drought but overall we've managed to generally have that as a strength.

Refs: Offensive pass interference on Purdue.

Also Refs: There is no foul for offensive pass interference because the quarterback was beyond the line of scrimmage, making it an illegal pass.

Still more refs: Okay, the quarterback WAS NOT beyond the line of scrimmage, so I guess we'll go with that offensive pass interference thing.

I'm working this afternoon and so not watching games (though monitoring the scores online).

Just looked at NEB @ Purdue. Good Lord. Is this shaping up to be NW @ Illinois c. Sept. 1978? It doesn't appear that Purdue will get the ball back this half and it has less than 100 yards of offense and only four first downs, yet somehow isn't trailing.

Nebby on the road and not prime time. We beat them in their Super Bowl last week

Nb and Pu wow. A mistake prone game. Does Mich ever play on the road? Mn looks like atypical Mn team. Beat PennState.

I wish I was working. 90 minutes of my life Iā€™ll never get back.

There's still lots of sorting out to do in NCAAF. Our two big wins donā€™t look that hot right now.

We're a good team. Not sure how good.
Tonight will tell quite a bit. Good teams win the games you are supposed to, great teams win/steal games when underdogs or a tossup.

The Illini are somewhere between good and great right now, but the potential for great to exceptional is still there based on the next four games.
