I mean replay, no replay, I don't know what allows you to adjudicate that in a satisfying way, who knows.
I feel like the ruling on the field was made on the basis that a Miami player stripped away an already-caught ball. The replay doesn't seem to support that. But that's not the replay standard!

I don't think they had the conclusive look to overturn a call on the field, but it did look like he never really did control the ball to the ground.
The ref just trolled all of Virginia Tech with the way he called that. "The ruling on the field........is reversed."

Yup. The process was wrong but the call was probably right
I'd put it like this: If that Brian Hightower play vs IU in '22 isn't a catch, this isn't a catch either...
