Last year at the midway point, the Cardinals were 34-47. Today the Cardinals are hovering around .500. This is a big improvement. However, they are not at the point where they are a World Series contender, in my opinion. This is going to take some time.
Right in the hunt for the second wild-card spot. Exactly where DeWitt and Mozeliak want the team, as it keeps the team just barely competitive enough for the summer vacationers to keep attending games and spending money in Ballpark Village.

Keeping their nose out of the water for now. Pitching, both starters and the Pen have been good. Offense not so much. The drastic decline of Arenado Goldy and Gorman along with injuries to Edman Noot and Contreras have crippled the chance to make some real headway. Once the 3 injured come back and get settled in we will see if they can help. If things don't change with the big 3 they will need to be dropped in the order. Gorman needs to go down to Memphis and learn to hit again. Goldy may need to be platooned.

THAT'S A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cardinals win the opener of the 3 game series with the Pirates by a score of 7-4....................

the Cardinals go 4 games over .500 , which I think is a season high for them...................

Gorman with a long Grand Slam .......................
Burleson with a 2 run homer and a single almost in the dirt.........
Donovan with 3 hits and a walk...................
Cardinals BP with another solid outing consisting of King , Fernandez , Romero and Helsley.........
Helsley with his 31st consecutive save.............
Kyle Gibson with his 6th win of the season and 8 K's......

Cards now 5 1/2 behind the Brewers with the Brewers behind the Rockies 2-1 early in their game,,,,,,,,,,
