Yadi also didn't have to contend with a 20 second pitch clock and a 2 limit pickoff. He would have been a lot better than the guys we have now but there are different rules in effect now.

To an earlier article posted here about the Cardinals interest in bringing back Goldschmidt , I continue to wonder why ?........His first AB tonight is a clear indication of the need to move on..........he takes the first 2 pitches of moderate velo for strikes , then battles behind in the count till he swings at a ball outside of the strike zone for an inning ending DP.........

he's batting .220-.230 area with less than 50 rbi's & less than 20 HR's as a regular in the middle of AUGUST and will be 37 soon........$$$$ that can be better spent next year on SP's and bullpen help........

I thank Goldie for his career as a Cardinal but the FO needs to think with their head and not be swayed by their heart........

it's time to move on and reward Goldie with a red Cardinals HOF jacket in the not so distant future........This is JMHO.............period...

Adios all my cardinals fanatic friends here..........I watched and waited for the obvious 2-3 run homer from the Reds before retiring for the night ............Going back below .500 for the season seems to be where the Cardinals will finish this year as the past seasons miscues in personnel decisions have reared their ugly head with last year's last place finish and this season is NOW trending towards a similar position.........

Time for new leadership in the FO and , sorry to say in the managers position.......I think Marmol has grown some this year in his guidance of the bullpen , but he is at the mercy of poor seasons by those who should be leading this team in performance stats.........

Arenado and Goldschmidt are at the forefront in dismal season's as far as OBP and slugging with terrible season stats as to HR's , rbi's and hitting in RISP..........just reminds me of the dismal seasons in the 90's where you knew there was no chance of extended success even if they made the playoffs...........I would rather see them struggle like this with youngsters playing than players past their prime.......

The SP's this year are an improvement over the last place team's pitchers , but still are a below average staff.....The bullpen has been a strength all season long but are now showing the signs of being overworked.....

being an ardent fan of the Cardinals since the late 1950's it really hurts to see the substandard results last year and now beginning to show the same cracks this year...........looks like another year of a below .500 record is descending upon us quickly as the remaining schedule is brutal with many games with teams with winning records...........I should once again say this is JMHO.......

Well maybe when we miss the playoffs, we might get some luck and win the draft lottery.

235ish is approximately the league average...Goldie deserves some latitude but that's about over...agree with mostly the rest...

Wasn't Yadi supposed to be here mentoring and helping? Sorry I'm over the Yadi lovefest. Great catcher and good player. Has been taking advantage of the organization for the last 3 years.
