Remember Rolling Stones concert at Assembly Hall in 1969. A lot of attendees on dates wearing sportcoats and ties...with Mick Jagger looking out at the crowd and asking why everyone was dressed in suits. Maybe someone else who was there can back me up...On that topic, I was on a business trip in the late '90s with my boss, who had graduated in '68. We were talking about casual dress, as our corporate HQ had just instituted "casual Fridays," which caused a negative stir among the elders. He noted that when he was in college in the northeast in the mid-to-late '60s the students wore jackets and ties to the football games. He said he went back for a game in '71 and all of a sudden none of the students were wearing that.
I filed that away. Many years later I saw footage of the epic Michigan-Ohio State game in '69, Schembechler's first year, when Michigan pulled the "upset of the century." Most of the students I could see in the background in Michigan Stadium were wearing coats and ties.
1970 seemed to be some sort of break point for casual dress among the young at college sporting events.
That is correct. I have not been able to find anything out from the news. Hoping it was a routine laparoscopic procedure, not a wider open incision.Former Cardinal Matt Holiday missed a week when his appendix was taken out. He was not put on disable list. Just depends on what type of surgery was performed.
I do think it makes more sense for coaches to wear the school apparel vs a suit. This is an interesting observation and something that we are seeing change right before our eyes. Just look at the game day attire of head coaches in 2019 vs 2022. Goodbye suits and hello sweat pants. The continuing "casualification" of society is real and even goes beyond dress, and I'm not entirely opposed to it.
I'd be happy if hes back my BTT.I'd assume that he's out for several games.
You done done it again, TC. Nailed itLook for Illini to open as 6 pt favorites.
guy on my X-country team had his out and was back running with us in a couple days and that was in 1969When I had mine out doc said no strenuous activity for 6 weeks.

If it burst, that's a medical emergencyHopefully, they took care of the appendix before it completely burst for RJ, must quicker recovery time if so.
Hey fellow Deacon fan. Wife was a cheerleader at Wake in the mid-seventies. I've adopted them as my second team now that they're playing well. They missed Mucius tonight, one of their starters and Si went down with a nasty ankle injury in the first half. Leading scorer Alondes Williams was on the bench in foul trouble most of the night. (Right. Good old home cooking in Clemson SC.) Short bench for the Deacs on a good night. Now with all the others, a very tough night. Still expecting, with twenty plus wins, to get an at-large bid and hopefully win a game or two in the NCAA after a competitive run in the ACC Tourney.... Welcome to Illini board RML and go Deacs! When I was in grad school at Wake Forest in the early 80's, the male students still wore coat and tie to football games. It was fun!
I’ve run that track on on more than one occasion. Loved running in the Armory. That old Iowa Field House was something else. I was there for a football game in 2003 and took a look. It's still standing. Same with Jennison Field House @ MSU, where the Spartans played through the '80s, which was and remains primarily an indoor track arena. As if the Illini played basketball in the Armory:
