Sooooo, if I'm looking at these spaghetti maps correctly, the remnants of Hurricane Francine are expected to hit Champaign around gametime, so maybe 25-30mph winds and a downpour?

That doesn't seem like a good omen... If you're a bettor though, slam the Under. In those conditions it'll be a lot of ground and pound

Updated Sellout Tracker as of this morning. This is up about 1,000 tickets sold since my update Monday night. The driving change here is once again a change in my assumptions rather than truly tickets sold. You may have seen on Twitter that the 6,500 student allotment of season tickets has officially sold out. This would be the 4,350 seats in the NEZ and 2,100 in section 101. My tracker had been assuming some amount of unsold seats in section 101, but that will now show as completely sold out until the end of the season.

I was able to get (2) section 105 (row 7) tickets for $140 after fees. I think thats a great price for 50 yard line seats.

Power Sweep...ILLINOIS by 14 over Central Michigan - First meeting. CMU is 5-3 ATS on the road vs non-conference foes dating back to their road upset vs Kansas (+5) in ‘17 winning 45-27. LY the Chipps’ played a Big 10 opponent falling to Michigan St (+14) 31-7, being held to a ssn low 219 yds of offense. Since
‘16, Illinois is 4-1 SU but 1-4 ATS vs the MAC, LY they were down 28-27 w/ 2:16 left and kicked a GW FG with :08 left. The Illini are coming of a ranked upset win, were they stopped Kansas on there last four possesions and pulled off the 23-17 (+4’) win for our 2nd straight Underdog winner in PowerSweep. CMU is 5-0 ATS as dog of 15 plus points the last two ssns including an outright upset LY (+16) at South Alabama. Illinois was 0-3 ATS vs non-conf LY but this year they are off to a 2-0 start but with the presstime line being right around 3 td’s we will go with CMU with the points.

You can get Peacock for $8 for a month and cancel. That would cheaper than going out to watch. There is a Big Ten game there every week.
Peacock discounts active military & Vets offering 12 month subscription @$2.99 month.

I actually forgot that was a thing happening this weekend! That said, I think most of that mess passes through Friday night and is gone by Saturday. Maybe a little wind gust here or there, but rain is out by that point.

Aww, hell naw! The last thing we need are players that target
Chaos Going GIF by Team Kennedy

Shoulder pads on shoulder pads? 🤷‍♂️

Current forecast says slight chance of rain. I've been keeping a close eye and it's been getting better throughout the week.

I saw someone post earlier that if we beat CMU this week and sneak into the top 25 (as a reminder, we are currently #26, first team receiving votes), it would be the first time we faced a ranked Nebraska team as a ranked Illini team in nearly 40 years. That got me wondering when (A) the last time we faced a Big Ten foe while we were ranked and (B) the last time we faced each Big Ten foe while we were both ranked. Excluding West Coast additions. Enjoy!

Last Time Illini Were Ranked
2022: Purdue 31, #21 Illinois 24 (Champaign, IL)

That Wisconsin one for 1952 seems really hard to believe, lol. However, I guess they stopped being really bad right when we started...

I actually messed up there - it is since 2008. However, that is still depressing, lol. Since the 2001 season ended, we have been ranked AT ALL in the following games:

2007: Iowa 10, #18 Illinois 6 (Iowa City, IA)
2007: #20 Illinois 41, Northwestern 22 (Champaign, IL)
2007-08: #6 USC 49, #13 Illinois 17 (Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA)

2008: #6 Missouri 52, #20 Illinois 42 (St. Louis, MO)
2008: #24 Illinois 47, Eastern Illinois 21 (Champaign, IL)
2008: #24 Illinois 20, Louisiana-Lafayette 17 (Champaign, IL)
2008: #12 Penn State 38, #22 Illinois 24 (State College, PA - the one I missed)

2011: #24 Illinois 23, Western Michigan 20 (Champaign, IL)
2011: #22 Illinois 38, Northwestern 35 (Champaign, IL)
2011: #19 Illinois 41, Indiana 20 (Bloomington, IN)
2011: Ohio State 17, #16 Illinois 7 (Champaign, IL)
2011: Purdue 21, #23 Illinois 14 (West Lafayette, IN)

2022: #24 Illinois 26, Minnesota 14 (Champaign, IL)
2022: #17 Illinois 26, Nebraska 9 (Lincoln, NE)
2022: Michigan State 23, #16 Illinois 15 (Champaign, IL)
2022: Purdue 31, #21 Illinois 24 (Champaign, IL)

Put another way, in the nearly quarter century since our 2001 Sugar Bowl season, fans have had the opportunity to show up at Memorial Stadium and watched a ranked Illini team 9 times. Assuming about 7 home games per year (I'm not counting, haha), that is roughly 5% of the time ... that's a great way to discourage hope!

The only reason I am fine bringing up this terrible history of disappointment is because of my immense faith in Bret and Co. that things have begun the long process of changing for good.

Were we not ranked when we beat tOSU at the horseshoe in 2007? Feel like we had to have been after beating PSU and Wiscy just a couple weeks before...

Thanks FotN. One conclusion I can draw....................if we're ranked and playing a fellow BigTen team, we tend to win. I believe all of the ranked Mike White, Lou Tepper and John Mackovic teams would further this point.

Surprisingly no. We jumped into the top 25 after beating PSU and Wisconsin, but we fell out after losing to a bad Iowa team in Iowa City. Then the Michigan home loss cemented us being unranked until we won at #1 OSU.

I'm so glad they stopped scheduling Mizzou every year. That was a guaranteed loss for us, unfortunately
