Thank you for sharing, as always! I'm pretty optimistic the Michigan game will be close to a sellout, especially if we can keep winning. That will be such a hyped up event, and I feel like the DIA will do everything in its power to get butts in the seats at the end of the day. I am, however, less sure about this weekend's game. Homecoming seems to generally be good for a boost of a couple thousand in attendance each year, but you would think those folks already have their tickets ... who knows? I would consider anything in the 52k to 53k range a very good showing (it will still look pretty full on TV and to the players) ... casual Illini fans are still "learning" to attend games again, haha.

You said yours is usually conservative, right? Let's hope that some solid week-of ticket sales and the baked-in conservatism of the tracker puts us in the 53k+ range!

Early forecast has the potential for rain so unfortunately might lower the enthusiasm a little bit

Yes, but I've started to pull some of the make-it-less-conservative levers. For example, sections 101, 109, 123, and 131 often show no tickets available for sale and without reliable availability information, there have been many games where I've had to assume the sections are entirely unsold despite knowing that likely isn't the case.

But with current student engagement being what it is, I'm not assuming a fully unsold section 101 this week. My tracker currently has the first 40 rows of section 101 sold. Similarly for sections 123 and 131, I've baked in assumptions of the first ~25 rows being sold. Everywhere else, methodology remains largely the same.

Fair to point out mercy, even if I somewhat disagree. There needs to be an attempt to “participate”. To not even try is bigger disrespect than performing at peak. For Indiana, they had 11 different guys carry the ball against WIU. To me, that’s trying really hard to participate and going deep into the roster.
I do think a team should experiment and play as many players as possible in blowouts.

However, I think those kids deserve every chance to play as they would play if they were starters. I think it’s useless to play the subs and then just keep running the ball up the middle (for example). Plus, when you are trying not to get injured in a football game is exactly when you do get injured.

In other words, I agree with your stance. Play a lot of kids in blowouts, but let them play as hard as they can.

I consider myself a passionate fan of Illini, but I dont like any team deliberately running up the score against an obvious inferior team. Win convincingly, but no need to humiliate. No need for Indiana to run up 70 plus points in their game.
Ok St didn’t take Central Michigan seriously 4 years ago and got beat on a fluke play to end the game

let’s just try to win convincingly & get Leary and other scrubs in for the entire 4th quarter

I agree. But, why not the Purdue game?
My guess, since it's been announced, is that it's to get a boost in attendance for a game that would otherwise be on the low end. I wouldn't be surprised if they were expecting a much lower turnout for the EIU game (still surprised we had that many people), so they stuck homecoming on the other non-P4 game to try and get an attendance boost to make up for any potential loss from the EIU game. I've seen other schools do earlier homecomings like this before, so while it's weird for us, it's not all that weird in the grand scheme of things.

Updated Sellout Watch tracker for Central Michigan. Got a ways to go just to break 50k.

View attachment 36198

Since I'm sure many are wondering, ~300 additional tickets for Michigan have been sold since Thursday, so its tracker is current at 50,209.
Did anyone hear what the actual number ended up being for the Kansas Game?

I see part of the problem, 101 is overflow for the NEZ student section and 109 is the visiting teams section so those would not be on sale to the general public most of the time. Not sure about 123 or 131.

I’m a Lunney diehard, but Saturday was not his best. I won’t speak to the scheme but the approach. It’s tough to tell if this was Lunney’s design or the invisible hand (Bielema) wanting more conservative play. I’m glad they decided mid-3rd quarter that slamming it into the line on first and second down to chew time was not +EV. It’s easy to say in retrospect but the kid gloves with the KU secondary should have been specified for Bryant and not the rest.

Guess what? It worked, Franklin is confirmed as excellent, OTs are both good, and it’s great to see Altmyer bringing this team back from the depth again for a big home win.

just once I want a Luke led offense beat a conference foe by +11
Im not blaming Luke.
I just dont like the way Lunney calls plays with Luke in there

Mikey Dudek being honorary captain this week is awesome. One of my favorite players and I just wish he could have stayed healthy. 🔶🔷🔶🔷
I saw one of Mikey's games in HS. He was so electric that every play looked like it could go to the house, I think he almost had 2 kickoff returns for TDs on top of being his team's only passing option. Lots of what-if players for me over the years, but he might be one of the biggest
