A question from this curmudgeon: Nothing against Central Michigan, but how does it get away with the Chippewas team name? They must have Ojibwa Nation support like Seminoles and Florida State or Utes and Utah. Just wondering.

Don't have Peacock? Just go to the game, simple.
Easiest solution I could ever think of lol. But seriously. We don't win that game last night without the fan support, and if that doesn't prove to the "I'm not going til we're good" crowd that they need to rethink their ways a bit, nothing will. Make that crowd normal, and we win a lot more games than when it's something that only happens once every 8 years.

Robert was not wrong in his article from a couple of weeks back. Back the team to gain a victory.

Obviously a lot of very valid reasons to not go to the game.

I just don't get the complaints about streaming. How young are you to actually complain about the fact that you can get a game on TV but it will cost you 8 bucks. I've lived decades without the availability.

If you look at the stats in the CMU vs FIU game. You will see that CMU out gained FIU on both total yards and first downs. Usually when you outgain a team on yards you win but that wasn’t the case as CMU had 6 turnovers compared to FIU having 0. I think Illinois should still blow out this CMU team but I don’t think they are as bad what they showed yesterday in that 52-16 loss.

Turnovers are fatal. Just ask Kansas.

they also took 10 penalties

They had less less yards per pass attempt and less yards per rush than FIU

Arizona with a tough game at ksu as well
They were in a real tussle with a FCS team who went 5-6 last year. Trailed at half, 4pt game entering the 4th QTR.

For everyone saying the EIU win was nothing to take from...there are quite some top 25 teams struggling with FCS schools. No - they're not a playoff teams - but it matters and shows that you play well in those.

NC State was in a dogfight with WCU...we saw what happened to them vs TENN.

How many plays did both teams run?

As backward as it seems, sometimes the team with more turnovers runs more plays, more TOP, and has more yards than their opponent, because the team forcing the turnover scores immediately (pick 6/scoop and score) or their offense has a short field and needs less plays to score.

yea- certain metrics can get skewed when many turnovers occur

I just checked TOP. It’s hard to believe we ended up with 30:38 and KU with 29:22.
I would have sworn it was 36-24 in their favor as we hardly had the ball in qtrs 2 or 3, and I don’t think they punted until late in 3rd qtr or early 4th, and they out rushed us 186-70 .

points is the ultimate metric that matters .
turnovers and TOP are the other two that often are accurate indicators

7 minute FG drive in the 4th was huge for TOP battle.

This ticks me off as well. But, there is a lot of football (NCAA and NFL) on Peacock now. There are some packages I'm reconsidering that include Peacock with Apple TV and Netflix, plus other combos. Look to see if any work for you. I'm making changes right now. You have to play the game. I just cancelled Peacock because Xfinity  raised the subscription from $2.99 to $7.99

I consider myself a passionate fan of Illini, but I dont like any team deliberately running up the score against an obvious inferior team. Win convincingly, but no need to humiliate. No need for Indiana to run up 70 plus points in their game.
I like to see teams work on things in a blowout. Keep playing hard, don't just run out the clock, but don't just keep doing what you know you can do to your opponent over and over.

It's a new world in CFB/CBB. You play the game until the clock reads 00:00. Humiliation is not part of it.

My wife adds and cancels Apps all the time based on what she wants to watch. I never know what we have when. I only have a couple I want. I have Redzone only because it's packaged with some Movie App my wife likes. Unfortunately Peacock has become one of those, so I'm negotiating with her for a new bundle.

I don't know, Western looked so incompetent, that if IU really wanted to "run up the score", they could have easily scored 90+ points. I mean Western turned the ball over three times in the 4th quarter deep in their own territory, including one that went for a pick-6. Kind of hard not to get 3 td's in the 4th quarter when that happens.

Fair to point out mercy, even if I somewhat disagree. There needs to be an attempt to “participate”. To not even try is bigger disrespect than performing at peak. For Indiana, they had 11 different guys carry the ball against WIU. To me, that’s trying really hard to participate and going deep into the roster.

Thank you for sharing, as always! I'm pretty optimistic the Michigan game will be close to a sellout, especially if we can keep winning. That will be such a hyped up event, and I feel like the DIA will do everything in its power to get butts in the seats at the end of the day. I am, however, less sure about this weekend's game. Homecoming seems to generally be good for a boost of a couple thousand in attendance each year, but you would think those folks already have their tickets ... who knows? I would consider anything in the 52k to 53k range a very good showing (it will still look pretty full on TV and to the players) ... casual Illini fans are still "learning" to attend games again, haha.

You said yours is usually conservative, right? Let's hope that some solid week-of ticket sales and the baked-in conservatism of the tracker puts us in the 53k+ range!
