Per the plan announced last summer, LaTulip redshirted in 2015-2016 and will graduate next weekend. Now he can be a 5th-year transfer eligible immediately & hopefully get meaningful playing time at the new school. How come?
Despite the quite serious movement on this board two seasons ago to get MLT some more tick (of which I was a member), he was never going to get meaningful minutes at the University of Illinois. I'm sure the move is to get some more playtime, which I totally understand. How come?
No, that's Dee. Remember? That guy (MLT) could be the future head coach of the Illini!
Mike did it the right way. Played and supported his home state school. Had a plan to get a degree (and did it) and now can pursue more playing time and additional schooling at another university. Good Luck to him.
Is he going to be on scholarship?
Is he going to be on scholarship?
Surely he will be. Kid's no slouch.
If wanted to pay to play basketball another year, he'd probably find some place closer to home. His parents travel to every game and while the Horizon isn't bad, there are closer options.
Best of luck to him. He always seemed proud to be an Illini. Those are the kids we want in the program.
