For sure....if only we could play 10-12 at once we would be a top 3 pick for national champs!

Does anyone else get a sense that the season will be totally unfair for our opponents? I can see a complete bench substitutions five at a time like a hockey team with our fighting Illini team.

This is the best team that has ever been assembled in Champaign-Urbana. we may not win every game but it’s gonna be close if we lose one. I feel sorry for the other teams.

You know the bball coaches around the country are gagging right now. 😂

The 89 team was still only 6 deep with Smith and Kaufman that were them good later.

I don't know if the top end talent on this year's team is as good as 89 or 05 but this team looks more talented from 1-10 than any team I remember (realistically 11 with Davis).
89 team was deeper than you are saying.
Battle
Anderson
Hamilton
Gill
Bardo

Liberty (prep #1 in country)
Smith (Top 35)
Ervin Small (solid rebounder and defender)
Kaufman (injured much of the year)
PJ Bowman (made some big shots during the season)

Guards: Kylan, Kasparas, DGL
Wings: Riley, Tre, Ty
4s: Ben, Booth
5s: Tomislav, Morez

This is pretty good...
Add Jake Davis to the wings. Averaged almost 10 a game as a freshman, is a great shooter, and has awesome hair. Lol

Add Jakstys to the bigs. Will likely redshirt but he has a nice future. IMO

Heck of a roster. Now who will be the alphas? Need a top one and probably two others (ex: Shannon, Domask, Hawkins)

PJ Bowman made 28 shots that year and then averaged 4 pts a game as a senior in 20 minutes.

Ervin Small was ok but his best season was 7 pts and 5 rebounds in 20 mins.

Liberty was part of the 6 deep and I mentioned Smith and Kaufman.

For comparison sake, Carey Booth just averaged 6 pts and 4 rebs in 20 minutes as a freshman and looks like the 10th man. Jake Davis might not get any minutes and averaged 9 and 4.5 while shooting 39% from 3.

Good news is there’s several guys in the team who could step up into those alpha roles. Bos, Kasparas, Riley, And Humrichous seem the most prepared or most capable. I’d throw Tre White in there too

The ceiling for this team is leading the nation in offense (points per possession) and being a decent defense. Will be really hard for opponents to match up with the overall size at each position and exploit any position due to the athletic depth.
