We should start a Loyalty satellite club in Springfield. Seems like more than a few around here.Hey! I'm awfully close to Branson myself. I will be scanning the crowd for ya next time, as I will be wearing my Illini orange as well!

Some interesting takes on the K state blog. Generally favorable but a couple question how a contract this big could possibly affect the team dynamic (jealousy, unrealistic expectations, etc), which is something I never really considered with major NIL discrepancies among young, college players.Happy for Coleman. In terms of K State, they will either be a top 10 team or make the NIT and I have no clue which one will happen.
Just to be clear, if I get a 2 million dollar offer I'm grabbing it. After I sign I'll ask where it's located.God forbid a guy try to make as much money as possible
Hate to tell you, but I believe he bleeds green.I was thinking the same thing. I know Brad and his wife are from Kansas State University and love that program. I was worried about us losing brad to them at one point, but Brad bleeds orange now.
Coleman got right at $2 million with the possibility to get even more ...

Plus we can root for him to own Hunter for the rest of his "beat down by Illini" career.Of all the places Coleman could have gone, KSU is A-okay with me. He already ruled out Big Ten schools and Mizzou (because he's an Illini for life!), but I'm personally glad he isn't at some unlikable Blue Blood or even a non-Big Ten school we have some historical animosity/baggage with like Arizona, Auburn, Houston, etc.
That’s twice the League minimum (w/ less than half the number of games).. atta boy Coleman!Coleman got right at $2 million with the possibility to get even more ...
The only thing that makes me cringe is if they're expecting him to be a top 2 scoring option. Hawk is a great utlityman. I know he had his knee bothering him, but he arguably struggled to be a consistent 3rd option for us this year...Happy for Coleman. He also had Terrance and Marcus, so he didn't need to score as much. He definitely has his moments. He scored at all levels in his 30 point game against Iowa. The only thing that makes me cringe is if they're expecting him to be a top 2 scoring option. Hawk is a great utlityman. @RabidDawgClassic just saw your similar point. Great minds..
Yup. And he improved the most between years 3 and 4. If he continues in that direction, he could be really good.Coleman Hawkins got better every year at Illinois... If he gets better next year, he could be an all American
And he doesn't even need to score 20 a game to do it. If he puts up 16 ppg 6 rb 5 assists 2 steals and shoots 40% from 3 then that's pretty good line and all within reality for himYup. And he improved the most between years 3 and 4. If he continues in that direction, he could be really good.
2nd half season he started driving to the hoop and scoring. There were flashes of a 18 ppg scorer. Brad 5 out offense left the lane wide open for these drives. A traditional 5 in the low post would limit Coleman's ability to score this way. Looks like KSU likes to play bigs inside. He also had Terrance and Marcus, so he didn't need to score as much. You can't really call someone that plays 38 minutes a game a role player. I think you meant he was a "glue guy" which is an important role on a winning team. Don't forget he got a triple double one game, how often has that happened at Illinois? I think Ayo did it but can't think of anybody else. Coleman was much more than a role player, especially this year, he just wasn't an Alpha on scoring...My hope for Coleman is that he has a breakthrough year, beats Hunter three times and establishes himself as a first round draft pick without having to play Illinois on our way to the national championship.
However… I’m concerned that he excels primarily as a role player. For four years I was waiting for him to become an alpha, but he just never go there. He had a great season last year because he had two teammates who carried the scoring load, allowing him to become an effective catch-and-shoot three point assassin and top notch glue guy. But the year before, when the offensive flow was a mess, he had bad habits that held him back (step back threes, for example). He’s never been effective on the drive so his expertise comes from proper spacing. I know very little about what K-State’s roster excels at, so it’ll be something to keep an eye on.
Should Coleman shoot at the level he did last year, develop a stronger inside game and defend the 4 as we know he can, he’ll do well. But it’s really going to come down to who he’s surrounded by.

Actually, I guess you did mention the "glue" but the main thing you're overlooking is how much Brad played him because he was so versatile. That was also the case the year before, Brad trusted him more than anybody. And don't forget, he had knee tendinitis all year. Other than the 3 games he rested early in the year, he played close to 40 minutes every game. You can't really call someone that plays 38 minutes a game a role player. He is not likely to ever be a 20 point a game guy. That’s not why he’s a good basketball player. My hope for Coleman is that he has a breakthrough year, beats Hunter three times and establishes himself as a first round draft pick without having to play Illinois on our way to the national championship.

That kid might have been the best player on the USA team. Just seemed rock solid and steady. Had assumed we were not in the conversation for him but i hadn't considered the O factor.
