Well, this seems to be encouraging. If he were committing somewhere else, why would this have an impact?
Unless he's waiting for a verdict to affect his decision...but that is baseless devils advocate attitude.
I was wondering how much that was playing into the wait. Makes sense as the case is important and when he commits he should enjoy the full celebration from the fan base and not be overshadowed.

OA's first stint at Illinois we were bottom of the B10 and he was still able to get Kofi and Andre. Now we have won BTT and BT multiple times and are coming of elite 8 appearance, $NIL and possible 1st round draft pick in TSJ. He has a lot more to sell. Plus with portal he has to help recruit an entire team almost every year (crazy). It makes recruiting even more important.

This is the by product of get old and stay old. Nothing wrong with get old and stay old but it has a feel like juco basketball. This portal season - a different strategy of primarily recruiting multiple year guys. Only Humrichous is 1 and done.
Not all schools/programs have adopted the recruit an entire team almost every year approach.
IMO get old and stay old worked great for 23/24 but I prefer to recruit multiple year guys (assuming you can keep the majority for multiple years) and they grow with the program. 23/24 roster was much easier to manage. the older players were the best players on the team and thus got the minutes and results. 24/25 roster will be more of challenge for minutes and results for the next year (and beyond!!!)

2 successful programs are trying to avoid the portal. Should be interesting to see how they do. I suppose as long as you don't lose a lot of players via portal and you can successfully recruit HS it could work. I just don't know if underclasssmen are going to stick around if they are not starting.
Marquette had nobody leave via portal and did not get anybody via portal. 6 incoming freshman.
Purdue lost 2 to portal - Mason Gillis 7 ppg 4 rpg, Ethan Morton 1 ppg, but did not bring anybody in via portal. 5 incoming freshman (was 6 but Catchings gone)

And next year's transfer market is going to be a lot different without any super seniors using their COVID years. A lot less supply of old, veteran talent while the demand for instant difference makers will stay the same.
I think a total roster rebuild using the portal next year would be significantly harder than what Brad and the team have been able to accomplish this year. Great strategy pivot, IMO.

Well - he did make an announcement today - maybe that is what our insiders were hearing. Maybe people close to him wanted to make it into a thing - you only get to do this once - I don't blame him for wanting to enjoy it with friends and family around.
It's scheduled for 90 minutes so it sounds like they want to make it a real event surrounding the announcement
