Yeah, but can those schools pay what he was thinking he would get? I honestly wonder if SMU has a bigger bag than K-State.he came back to college for lots & lots of money . that’s all
If Coleman originally wanted to come back, the coaching staff would have let him back. From all indications from people close to the situation- it was a mutual decision for Coleman and Illinois to part ways for the good of both parties, so I don’t think his return was in the cards no matter what
He waited too long. No blue blood coach is going to sit and wait to see if he would come back and not go right back to Illinois. That’s how you get fired. Can I say, if Coleman's options are SMU, Louisville, and KSU, maybe he isn't as coveted as we thought. Did the blue bloods actually sniff around?
It looks like he did take his visit to Alabama FWIW- I know there were rumors he might notjust casually refreshing every 15 min to see if there is any new indy post on will riley....got me foaming at the mouth for more infoView attachment 35259
Actually I agree with you, I want the B1G to be good, too. But wanting the B1G to be good is not the same thing as wanting Michigan to be good.Hmm, I must be the only fan who wants the big ten teams to be loaded. I hate seeing our teams get knocked out in the first or second rounds, this year, obviously different
I couldn’t give less of a poop if other Big Ten teams get knocked out in the first or second rounds. In fact, I want them to suck, especially Iowa, Indiana, and Michigan. I don’t care about “rising tide lifts all boats” or whatever. I only care about Illinois winning. I want us to own the Big Ten when it comes to both conference and NCAA tournament success.Hmm, I must be the only fan who wants the big ten teams to be loaded. Imo Grandison filled a position of need as a 3 point specialist, don’t think Cohawk will appreciate that kind of usage.Jacob Grandison went to Duke for a year. Coleman is a much stronger player than JG.
Or that's where the money is after he waited so long to drop out of the draft? He's obviously chasing top dollar. Why be paid $500K and be a third or fourth banana or be paid $1.25M and he a focal point? Which one is better for his future draft stock and present bank account? Can I say, if Coleman's options are SMU, Louisville, and KSU, maybe he isn't as coveted as we thought. Agree on your three teams. I'd add northwestern.I couldn’t give less of a poop if other Big Ten teams get knocked out in the first or second rounds. I don't think that is accurate at all. Michigan state and Wisconsin made it to final four ande elite 8 that year.Agree on your three teams. I'd add northwestern.
I'm not sure how much people realize this but our historic season in 2005 was helped by the fact that it was a pretty down year for the big ten.
Knowing that I'm sure really takes some of the shine off it, doesn't it?

Yeah do you think Patriots fans care that they played in the most historically terrible division in the history of the NFL? The Dolphins, Jets, and Bills were all God awful for like 20 years, basically gifting the Pats with a first round bye every year. No one ever talks about that because in the end they won, no one cares they had a head start to get to the playoffs.Agree on your three teams. I'd add northwestern.

Does this speak to the power of a Big 10 that was disrespected or does it speak to the fluke that is the tournament?3 teams in the Elite 8 is a down year?
The last part of your post was was ridiculous, that was one of the two best teams in illini history.Agree on your three teams. I'd add northwestern.

Let me guess. Rutgers? What team has won the most Big Ten games over the last five years?
Maybe the poster meant it was a down year for ALL of D1 basketball that year allowing the Illini to coast to the championship game. /s3 teams in the Elite 8 is a down year?
That’s cool. I love the 80’s flying Illini era in which, Michigan, Iowa, and Indiana were loaded.
