I choose to believe insider blackout is a sign of good things to come.

The sleepers guys alluded to how NIL works at Purdue in one of their videos that it’s pooled and players share it equally? It’s going to be really hard for them to compete for talent in this new world in that model - for transfers or HS recruits

It will be interesting to see their trajectory going forward
I don't know if it's true or not and sharing a pooled NIL doesn't mean you can't get more from other opportunities but it's an interesting concept.

Yeah you're probably not going to win a bidding war for NIL and may lose out on some super highly touted recruits.

However, if you hit on the right guys and they buy in then you're going to have an extremely unselfish team that plays together.

The Big 10 was down because Illinois had a generational team.

There was 1 team that could beat Illinois is a National Championship game that year. Unfortunately, we played them.

Agree on your three teams. I'd add northwestern.

I'm not sure how much people realize this but our historic season in 2005 was helped by the fact that it was a pretty down year for the big ten.

Knowing that I'm sure really takes some of the shine off it, doesn't it?
You mean the year Wisconsin made the elite eight and Sparty made the final four, and we beat both of them on the road? Yep. Not impressive at all.

2005 was the last year high school age could enter the nba draft and there was a mad dash across the NCAA to the draft that year, iirc.

2005 was a great team but the ncaa was young.

I want them all to be great, so long as we are always a little bit better.
Well, maybe not Michigan. Its OK by me for them to suck.

If players become employees this may be how it all plays out, $-wise (i.e., equal pay from the employer (school) plus whatever additional money they can solicit on the side … if that’s allowed).

Was it really it a down year or was it just viewed that way by the media?

Because Illinois was the best team in the country(I will die on that hill), Michigan St went to the final four, and Wisconsin lost in the elite 8 to UNC(by 6).

IIRC, there was a perception the Big Ten was down that year-- and definitely a media perception-- but perceptions back then weren't based on KenPom or Torvik.

ACC won the challenge 7 to 2 that year and Big Ten apparently finished the #5 conference in the much-maligned RPI. I swear ESPN would never miss a chance to say the Big Ten was down, either.
