If he silently decommitted why would he sign?

Is this NIL related? If it’s not Illinois does he end up at Indiana (gross), or is there another landing spot that’s a high probability. I believe Indy said his visits were Indiana, Purdue, and Illinois. Would family connections to Tennessee make them an option?

No. It’s intimated that Drake got the BBL. Drake famously told Metro Boomin’ to STFU and go make some beats to which Metro went “bet.” And went and made the catchiest beat BBL Drizzy (Drake’s nickname) and then said whoever makes the best verse to the beat will win a free beat from Metro. The entire hip hop world jumped in and roasted Drake til he was just blistered Toronto trash. I saw violins, saxophones, Japanese and Spanish artists all jump in on BBL Drizzy. Metro crowd sourced Drake into silence pretty much.

Good point for sure.

And yet, taking an exaggerated example, if say an incoming freshman PG who will clearly start at Illinois (ranked perhaps 35th in his class) learns that a recent decommit ranked overall no. 1 in the class and also a PG has decided to join the Fighting Illini, I think that 35th-ranked player might consider whatever options he has. Especially if he has been told, in this exaggerated example, that the no. 1-ranked guy is definitely going to be the starter this season although he will certainly be leaving for the NBA immediately after.

I guess my point is that there may be shades of gray to transfer situtations. Sometimes messages get sent without anyone saying anything, and maybe that was the intent or maybe it was imagined.

And finally, maybe this is the way that a national champion-level team gets built. I am all for winning a national championship.

This may be the wrong thread but I'm curious if any insiders have any insight on what would be the domino effect of Hurley going to the NBA?

Who would UConn go after this late in the off-season? Would we potentially see guys McNeeley back out of an NLI? Or someone like Mahaney? Wouldn't it also up open a transfer window for Karaban?

Last I read:

1)The visit not go well at UK,
2)Bama just wanted a visit and
3)The AZ relationship soured
4)We knocked it out of the park with him

Does this remain true or are we preparing for:

5)Recruiting is fluid
6)We have a good option B

I want to hone in on expectations.

If Hurley goes, of course it is likely some recruits leaves. There are certainly teams that will be in contact with those players. McNeeley will have suitors, but I doubt Illinois would be involved. He has size for his position, but that is really it (from what I have seen). That caveat to all this is: I know nothing.

Considering the rumbling he wants guaranteed playing time, are we not concerned about potentially adding another soft player to the roster after dismissing the last few soft players who wanted PT guarantees? :unsure:

What are the chances we get Riley, he chooses to stay in the '25 class, and also we get Catchings?

For the upcoming season, that would set up a starting 5 of Kylan, KJ, Catchings, Ben, Morez/Tomislav...with an absolutely stacked bench.

For next season (25-26) the lineup would be: Kylan, KJ, Catchings, Riley, Morez/Tomislav.

Really good...
