Will Riley comes up at 1:47:50

Here at 1:35:45

Piper seems pretty certain that we're heavily into him and that there's a chance.

TSJ rulings was school based and nothing to do with NCAA.
Oh I know. Just playing devil’s advocate.

As I read further, it sounds like it’s pertaining to players who lost a year of eligibility due to multiple transfers. The wording “for any part of season” makes me think it refers to players such as Andre Curbelo and Adam Miller — both of whom, among others, lost a part of last season .

Gonna keep banging the importance of Ty drum all off-season.
I agree with you on Ty. Hopefully his attitude is contagious with the other guys. Say you have Ivisic, Hum, KJ, and Kylan on the floor (all projected starters). All are good shooters and overall skilled players. But not really scrappy junkyard dog types as far as I can tell. Ty would fit a niche with that group because he will play tough D, rebound, and try to dunk in your face.

Morez & Ty are extremely high motor & physical guys. DGL gets at it too. I don't know if all 3 combined will add up to top 2 in scoring on our team this year, but I think they will set the tone in all other things.

I also sincerely hope I'm wrong and Ty is shooting 10k shots this offseason like TSJ...

Yes, whatever it takes! If he doesn't suit up for us next year, it's a complete failure on the part of the coaches! No excuse for him to not play five years for us.
I think it’s obvious… We need to offer Coleman $10mil.

Yes Morez and DGL also. And I'm not putting it past Ty to develop a shot. He improved his FT % a fair amount from FR to Soph year. It's not impossible that he develops a jumper. But IMO he needs to work more at first on a 6-12 ft jumper. Then gradually extend it out to the 3-point line.

What you’re saying is so simple I’m surprised the coaches didn’t think of it.

All you have to do is ruin the team chemistry.

“Hey, Booth, I know we told you that you’d be integral piece of this team, but you likely won’t see the floor.”

“Hey Humvee, I know we told you that you’d be an integral piece of this team, but you’ll likely only play 5 minutes a game. Coleman has the other 35.”

“Hey Boswell, I know we told you that you’d be the leader of the team, but this is Coleman’s team now.”

“Hey boosters, I know we told you that we wouldn’t need anymore money, but we now need an extra $1m-$2m to get Coleman back.”

And on top of that:

Coleman
Doesn’t
Want
To
Play
Here
Next
Year
And
We
Can’t
Force
Him
To.
Brad’s job is to create the BEST basketball team. Period. His pitch is more likely to be, Hey Player X, come to the Illini and you will be provided a fair chance to compete for one of the best programs in America. We will dedicate all resources possible and available to make you the best basketball player possible. We want you to join the family!

Anything more than that is hogwash. If he is making promises he can’t keep, that’s a whole different discussion.

Simple put, if Brad is not trying to bring the best players to Illinois, he is not doing his job right.

He will develop a 3 pt shot when he’s about 25 at ymca Or another school. He’s At best a good defender and energy guy. Nothing you can build a ream around. Everyone else will have to score. We play 4 on 5 when he’s out there with a big man protecting the rim.

Will the NBA have any interest in changing their minimums to address this? Or are they really not concerned whether the cohawks of the world are in their eco system.
Zero , why would they? At worse they wait another year for what is a average prospect?
if they are a true talent they arent staying in college they are a lottery pick.

Here's my guess fellow board members...our ticket price is going to go up a lot...! It's going to be more for a basketball roster than we spend for every sport other than football....(maybe over exaggeration)...but you get the point...
Maybe a bit but I think donors will take care of it as long as Brad keeps winning.

This puts any questions on Lathon’s eligibility to rest - he had to sit out a year under the old transfer rules, so he gets his fifth year now

Would love to see him in O&B as a vet SG next year
I don't know the player, but I think I heard he committed very quickly to Northwestern.

Don't you think the staff and Coleman haven't long ago done exactly that? C'mon now.
C'mon now...do you think the situation hasn't evolved since long ago? I give Coleman enough credit for being smart enough to adapt and not be locked into where he thought we were in March/April. We have added 3 probable starters in roughly the last month with the last one this week.

The point you seem to have missed...while there are many reasons why it isn't likely to happen; Coleman's preference & comments, $ along with NIL we have left, maybe some promises we need to incoming transfers,... but that we don't need him, he wouldn't make us better, we moved on long ago and can't adapt are all BS. So you still make a pitch, sure it probably doesn't work, but you have nothing to lose & honestly I do expect they have and are making the pitch over the last few months. But we have a roster now where he can see where he fits, we have added a several potential 5's where he can be a 4 or even a 3, there is some familiarity with staff/facilities, there are reasons to come back...play your hand.

Is it not possible that BU's hand is, "thx mate, you had a great run thx for everything, but you should move on"?

Possible main reason: BU believed he would bring in, and now is certain he has brought in, enough talent to not need CH and the potential weirdness in the leadership dynamic that having him back may have created?
