So it sounds like you guys are saying you need to see the floor to see the floor. ;)

So in the end Coleman Hawkins will be the graduate of another program after becoming who he is for Illinois. Whatever man.

If he comes back here I’m all for him. If he is gone I wish him well but the big picture here is crappy.

Sorry to break this to you folks, but this is weight loss not muscle building. So unless Fletch does the nutrition plans, which maybe he does, I think you're congratulating the wrong person.
Interesting that Boswell gives credit to Fletch in the post then. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard players credit him in the nutrition planning as well.

Coleman is a grown man, and he makes his decisions. I think after 4 years at Illinois it is time to leave. Let all leave with great memories instead of trying to stay too long.
more than a few people thought the same about Trent and Damonte. It's fine if that's how CoHawk felt. I get that. I can't see, especially with all the turnover, that the coaches felt that way.

At the same time, I totally get the coaches saying they needed a commitment and CoHawk not willing to give it.

Next year's team would be better if you added CoHawk and took away any of the Americans except Boswell.

This pretends that 'any of the Americans' are making what CHawk is asking for. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'd rather have potentially 2 years of Booth & Morez than 1 more year of Hawk.

Maybe true. But it's easy to look at things in hindsight. The staff had to make a decision 6-8 weeks ago under the assumption that Coleman was gone. And IMO they took the most rational course of action. We added four quality front court players in the portal (added to Morez and also Ty returning). None may be as good as Coleman (at least in 24-25), but they're all quality guys.

I think the staff handled this fine when you consider our NIL pool, where we stand as a program, where the team stood for this year. I just can't fathom people going through mental gyrations that we're better off having half a dozen of these new guys over CoHawk. It's just not true.

And this is why you're not a professional coach. Illinois as a program is absolutely better off spending those resources (money, development & PT) on those Booth, Johnson, Boswell, KJ & Ty (all of which have 1st round potential) than it is on a glue guy for a really good team.

Coleman is nowhere close to Ayo, Kofi or TSJ, but because of when he's available he's going to get paid significantly better than any of them.
