And this is why you're not a professional coach. Illinois as a program is absolutely better off spending those resources (money, development & PT) on those Booth, Johnson, Boswell, KJ & Ty (all of which have 1st round potential) than it is on a glue guy for a really good team.

Coleman is nowhere close to Ayo, Kofi or TSJ, but because of when he's available he's going to get paid significantly better than any of them.
Was with you until you said Ty. Love the kid. love the fire he plays with. But 1st?

I think the issue with the loyalists is that we never really got to see Hawkins play his true position with good pieces( legit pg and center) and this wild west of mercenaries and duffle bags make us dream team up a nccaa finals team with him leading the ship with this current roster construction.
Fantasy land in my head is imaging him not having to play the 5 or play point forward.
It's been said on here before the coffers can be filled again so they should be, because as we all learned there is no guarantee any of these guys who have more than 1 year or eligibility will be here more than 1 year.
I'd rather ride or die with CH and make daddy Brad and Co earn their paychecks by managing a bunch of potential nba picks who want their playing time and shots.

You created this chaos. We funded it. Now make it work with Hawkins.

Everyone can jump ship next year so stop saying guys with more eligibility have more potential. That assumes they stay.
CoHawk is a proven commodity. I can't see someone filling the last scholarship that would add more versatility to lineup combinations and leadership than him. Pay him and make it work.

It's Bos crediting Fletch, but yeah weight loss seems the biggest factor. A great start nonetheless
Weight loss means stronger muscles, even if the muscle itself does not get bigger.... in other words, less mass, makes an existing muscle 'stronger' or more efficient.

I've said this before, but Underwood said he doesn't plan on any more players. And he's right. It's going to be tough to get enough quality minutes for the guys we already have. This team is going to be fascinating to watch. It's possible every starter will be new to the program.

I'm not a professional coach for a lot more reasons than this.

You keep saying glue guy as if it's some sort of insult.

Glue guy is exactly what a team like ours needs. We've cobbled together a bunch of new talent. It remains to be seen if they'll look more like '24 or '23.

Any sane person would want to add CoHawk to this team.

Pay Watkins, it would sure change the perception on how staff viewed Coleman returning…

Maybe true. But it's easy to look at things in hindsight. The staff had to make a decision 6-8 weeks ago under the assumption that Coleman was gone. And IMO they took the most rational course of action. We added four quality front court players in the portal (added to Morez and also Ty returning). None may be as good as Coleman (at least in 24-25), but they're all quality guys.

exactly. this was a timing problem, pure and simple

on a related front, let's hope that the "Coleman could come back" crew gives it up quickly now
