Givony has Roddy going at #37 in his latest ESPN mock draft, depending on how the rest of his season goes that could complicate staying/transferring.
Not tampering. But if our side is leaking that the conversation is happening it's not the classiest move ever. Can you imagine the melt down we'd have had in February if we heard that Adam Miller was thinking about leaving for LSU.It isn't tampering if a player (or his camp) initiates contact. I'm comfortable that our staff knows the rules here and adheres to them.
Just to be clear, no idea if Roddy has put out feelers.
NBA is looking at him so might not even get to the point of transferDavid Roddy - Atlanta Hawks Forward - ESPN

Well this article says that he has plans to stay his senior year but the NBA is looking at him so who knows.NBA is looking at him so might not even get to the point of transfer
Welp, I guess he’s better than Ayo. /sGivony has Roddy going at #37 in his latest ESPN mock draft, depending on how the rest of his season goes that could complicate staying/transferring.
Yeah - I didn’t spend the time digging that deep into his accuracy. Just noticed that for this year. Obviously makes it seem there is something there given he hasn’t taken much risk (especially this year) when making predictions, but only time will tellDid you look at any for the two years prior to this one? Because hit rate on those (I found one out of 140+ that he legit got wrong, not a decommit and switch) makes it seem like when he throws in a crystal ball pick, he knows something. Given that history, I'd be surprised if he threw in a pick based on a gut feeling or the Babcock thing, since there's a good argument at least for why he'd pick Illinois.
If info is being leaked…doesn’t mean it’s even our side doing it. A big IF there anyway. Not tampering. But if our side is leaking that the conversation is happening it's not the classiest move ever. Not every tidbit of information needs to be shared.
I mean, our insiders who've hinted at it seem to get their info (on other things) from our side. So if info is being leaked we can make an informed guess where it's coming from. But I agree, could be speculation as well.If info is being leaked…doesn’t mean it’s even our side doing it. A big IF there anyway.
Wish I could "Like" this response multiple times.Give me a break. You don't win every recruitment. Especially when its big boy recruiting.

I am fortunate to be close to the program and will just leave this here: players like Geoff, recruits like Geoff. If any of you have met Geoff, you also like Geoff. He was the right guy on the Kylan recruitment. It was Geoff who kept Kofi here, correct? I trust him, perhaps he had a relationship with him from when KB was in Junior High School as well.
Yep. Brad knows what he’s doing. We will get talented players.Wish I could "Like" this response multiple times.
........And Grandison, and Hawkins and Goode, and Melendez, and Hutch, and Podz, and Payne, and BBV, and Lieb. That team would compete against almost anyone. Curbelo is 6’1”, Dainja is 6’9”, Kofi is 7’0”, Roddy is 6’6” and Rodgers is 6’6”. That would make you forget about Boswell. And you also have Epps and Harris. Good grief. Lol
Curious - how was his college coach allowed to keep his job? And how did his college program avoid NCAA suspension?Remember this guy who we missed out on? Well, he ended up having to drop out of the season for KU because of the investigation of his mother's initiation of pre-NBA draft loan processing. Just giving some perspective for those who keep moping about all the recruits Illinois has missed out on.
Can you imagine if Kofi comes back for his Senior year with this guy and Dainja in the lineup. Um yeah good luck.
The NCAA sent these guys to inspect.Curious - how was his college coach allowed to keep his job? And how did his college program avoid NCAA suspension?
You don't understand how the gods who govern Illinois basketball work, do you?I know its still a bit of a ways away, but if Kofi comes back, we would need a transfer out to make space for Roddy right?
I think the disappointment has more to do with him being the clear first choice for the coaching staff than it has to do with the ranking. For the last few weeks, you couldn't go 10 minutes without a post on here about how great Boswell is, and how well he would fit on this team. You feed people a steady diet of that and "it's looking good" and "we're in the lead" and they're going to be disappointed when he chooses elsewhere. I don't think that's unreasonable. We'll be fine, we've missed out on plenty of first choices before, but the disappointment over this one is an appropriate response.Don’t get so infatuated with stars. Johnny Davis and Keegan Murray are three stars and Michigan has the five stars. Case closed!
