Maybe Groce knows that Timon will be committing to the Illini and will be staying all 4 years.:thumb:

Not sure where the op got his data but 247 lists Tilmon as a PF. Keep that in mind when looking at the numbers. A lot of the PFs will play C and a lot of the PGs will play off ball.

I was gonna post that Tilmon and Theo John make 2 centers but I guess going off of our Scholarship Grid, which list them both as PF, he is correct.

I see where Paul Scruggs canceled his visit last weekend. His parents had a conflict. Oh well.

Just an observation from the scholarship grid, there are currently 36 offers made to players in the next 3 seasons after the 2016-2017 season as follows:

* PG = 10
* SG = 4
* G = 3
* PF = 10
* SF = 7
* F = 1
* C = 1

Lots of emphasis being placed on the PG and PF positions by the staff. If we land a PF or two, hopefully they'll have some C skill and ability, as well.

I would be curious to know how many rising HS Frosh / Sophomores are listed as centers at this point. Which is to wonder if the reason we haven't offered many centers is because very few kids are listed as such currently but may grow into the position later on.

Edit: looks like UofIChE06 beat me to it.

Damonte Williams looks like he should be able to take over a game at any moment but he never does. At least not the times I've watched him. He is the antithesis to Goodwin. I am not sure you can do much with a guy who is content to be so passive at the high school level. Maybe Groce can light a fire but I am not expecting much from him.

Actually I have seen him take over plenty of games. Consistency is the problem. When he's aggressive, hes great. When he plays passive, he looks like just another player out on the court. I'm sure he will figure this out. I'm not concerned.

Gee, how do you think BP managed to get the #1 class so far, after being out of the game for a few years...

He has his methods...

Subpar coaching as a reason for dropping in rankings is a poor excuse. DMW had the same coach a year ago when he was going to be a Burger Boy, Mr BB, & Kansas wanted him as he does know.
What next the injury excuse card.??

I think the drop in rankings was probably warranted. However, Booth is not a good Coach. I almost left a couple games in frustration. He likes to play Damonte all over the place, high post included. He puts him in the post and he never gets the ball and Damonte becomes frustrated......rinse and repeat.

I might be one of the view that doesn't see Tyger Campbell as a for sure blue blood prospect. He has average athleticism for his position, is a little undersized, and is old for his class. He's really good, but I think he'll be a little below blue blood talent. It's always hard for young guys to keep up with the early hype unless they have crazy athleticism and length.

Disagree. Average athleticism??? If he is an average athlete ....who are the elite athletes?? I think the kid could hold his own if he had to play college ball tomorrow. He has everything i want in a PG. I think the kid is a STAR without question. I'm not worried about his athleticism or length. Its not hype when the kid backs it up everytime he's on the court.

Kind of agree with Newman. He's really good, but a tier below blood-blued caliber IMO.

The kid got an offer from Michigan State before the end of his freshman year. If that isn't blue-blood caliber, what is?

MSU isn't quite blue blood. That's more Duke, UNC, KU, UK. I'd even argue UCLA is more blue blood as well. MSU is closer to the Arizonas and UConns which are New Money. But hey I wouldn't care if I was a railroad tycoon heir or hedge fund manager - wealth is wealth.

Freshman year. One of the consistently best teams of the last 20 years. No Michigan State doesn't have the history of the others, but if Michigan State is offering you before you turn 16 you're blue-blood caliber.

Athleticism. I had no idea this was the NBA draft. Shall we talk about guards who weren't "athletic?" Steph Curry, Chris Paul, James Harden, Deron Williams, John Stockton, Jason Kidd, Reggie Miller, Steve Nash, Mark Jackson... Shall I continue? None of those guys will wow you with their jumping ability and some couldn't dunk at all. Give me a smart, skilled player any day of the week and if they happen to be athletic then it's icing on the cake.

For the record, I have no concerns about Tyger's athleticism, I just think blue bloods value athleticism and size more than we ever would or should. He may end up at a blue blood, but it seems like more often than not, kids fail to live up to extremely early expectations. He can continue to progress nicely but there will be players in his class that will pop up and likely pass him up in the rankings due to increases exposure and growth spurts. He'll be a much better point guard than a lot of those guys that surpass him IMO.

The guy he probably best compares to at the same age is Tyus Jones. Who was ranked very high, went to a blue blood, and proved his worth at the college level.
