I know nothing about this kid but (a) always makes sense to bring in recruits that are having great senior years to keep priority in case they seem worthwhile for an offer (b) probably need two TE commits in this class following Guinn leaving.
Here is a game from last year for you video scouts

There will be a rematch on 10/4 on the same YouTube channel

Kaveon Lee is another prospect I would like to see them add. He visited for the ku game and was just offered by wv

100%, He'd be getting a lot more P4 interest if he went to one of the powerhouse schools in the area... JCA, Oswego, or one of the Naperville schools

With the increase in scholarships it’s a no brainer to take a recruit like this as a developmental prospect
Never been a worse time to be a MAC or FCS coach. Nebraska will find a way to stuff 150 kids on their roster, just like the old days

It’ll be impossible to coach in the mac or fcs. As the tv money starts rolling in it’ll be hard to be a coach if your aren’t in a P2 conference.

Also with the addition of scholarships we will bring in more transfers. Then you should have the ability to redshirt a majority of our recruits and let them develop for a couple years.

Guys like Henderson, resetich, bray and Beaty would’ve really benefited from a redshirt year. We had to play them out of necessity.

His dad is Eric Smith from the Findlay team that won the 1992 IHSA basketball championship.

Eric played basketball and football at Millikin after never playing football at Findlay (school was too small to have a team).

He played TE at around 6’6”, 230 (or something like that) and, IIRC, ended up getting some practice team looks in the NFL.

I’m old enough to recall when starting college centers & guards were 6’2” - 6’3” and 260, and tackles were 6’4”- 6’5” and 280
I want to say Jim Juriga weighted 240 or 250 lbs his freshman year in the starting OL

Just for reference, Martin O'Donnell, our 5 star All-American guard was 6'5" 305lb out of high school. If Claude has athletic ability and is coachable, at his size, that's a day 1 4 year starter.

there's more to it than that. OLs need to be tank-ified and learn our blocking schemes, blocking technique and our playbook. it's a lot. maybe after a redshirt year, he starts. but it's not a lock

That's extremely fair. O line is probably the positional group that requires the most coaching up on not only your own performance and skills in a given scheme but how you adapt your technique related to your linemates. And yeah, definitely a given that a high school body is not the rock that a college body is. But man, with that frame and size, sky us the limit if he has the hunger and athleticism.

We're loading up on road graders. future OL looks very promising
