Yeah, I mean BB and the staff. I know it's not ideal for a RS freshman to be your QB1. However, I am hoping they kept him off the field to protect his eligibility and maturity and not because of talent.

I hear you on making the position more competitive on the team.

PFF grades for Illinois tackles (out of 450):

Alex Palczewski: 42 (later moved to guard)
Vederian Lowe: 46
Julian Pearl: 136

PFF grades for Illinois guards (out of 476):
Jack Badovinac: 34
Alex Pihlstrom: 210
Blake Jeresaty: 331 (only got one pass block snap after week 4)

PFF grades for Illinois centers (out of 227)
Doug Kramer: 21


Lowe is a lock for all-B1G. Kramer is a victim of poor circumstances (three of the top 4 centers by PFF are all in the B1G) but he's a lock for honorable mention. Badovinac has a similar angst (34th best guard but only 8th best in B1G) so he's likely honorable mention as well. Palczewski probably won't be honorable mention but has a shot. This group did an excellent job considering the carousel at QB, the rash of RB injuries, and learning a new system. I would love if the 2022 offensive line unit does a similar job.

he should consider playing for the coach who when at wisconsin took on a QB transfer by the name of russell wilson and coached him to B1G QB of the year and 3rd round NFL draft pick. one of the best QB-transfer success stories

I have a lot of questions about what exactly we are looking for in a QB.

Are most QB's labeled as dual-threat nowadays since more offenses seem to have purposeful QB running? Do we get some advantage since we seem to say we want a pro-style QB and less coaches are looking for that style? Are we really looking for a dual-threat QB but only a threat to run when he has to?

Costelli from Utah seems pretty ideal if we want a passer first, runner only if necessary according to the 247 description.

I think he makes a good RT/Strongside tackle. He's massive which helps in the run game and looks like he has a great wingspan which really helps with keeping DE's at bay who are good with their arms. It also keeps him out of the passing lanes in the middle of the field.
