An East Saint Louis recruit can not enroll at Illinois until after March 19, 2023, two years after Hawthorne was hired. Thus, we can still recruit the Class of 2023 players as long as they are not early enrollees. This really only prevents us from recruiting Class of 2022 East Saint Louis players. We can still recruit McVay and Patterson.

So why can schools hire HS Basketball coaches then sign their players? See ASU, Mizzou, orhers

Assistant coach positions have no restrictions. Non-assistant coaching positions: can't get players from coach's HS for ~2 years.

Intended to have the post you were replying to in there.

I get that is the rule, but the logic behind it seems......illogical?

This is one of the few rules that actually has all the logic in the world. The problem is the NCAA blew their proverbial "logic load" on this rule and then just cashed it in.

We have a talented RB room and pretty above average QB room with Peters and Williams leading way. In 2-3 years, hopefully we can keep same with Spann and Leary.
Not dissing our players, we got some real good ones but you really think our QBs are "pretty above average" compared to other teams in the BT? I'd say average would be generous. IW has not been a great passer and Peters is inconsistent. Both can run a little.

How about our RBs? average or below average in the BT? Sure wish we had Reggie Corbin this year, he'd certainly be above average.

Hopefully someone(s) is a pleasant surprise this year. It does seem to happen almost every year, I'll give you that.

Any projections for number of offensive linemen they'll take in 2022 class?

Already have a commitment from Joey Okla. Positive crystal ball activity for Hunter Whitenack, Clayton Leonard, and Danny McGuire.

Four isn't excessive but it's an interesting data point of the first commitment being a lineman and priority being placed on many others.

Would welcome this. As they say, it all starts up front.

We will be losing all the super-seniors, so like 4 of the 5 projected starters. I can definitely see taking 4, maybe even more, especially considering the new staff might want more of "their guys."

If we were to say average across the board ---- that still would be overly generous.

Dallan Hayden, 4-star RB from Memphis, and brother of Chase Hayden has scheduled an official visit for June 4. Other scheduled visits to ND and tOSU. Got in on him after Bielema was hired but he did add us to his list after he cut it down to 4.

CB has him choosing Tennessee. Let's see what we can do about that.

A man of few, and sometimes confusing posts.

Is he WR or RB?

I've wondered if the staff will bring in another RB if Epstein decides to not come back.
RB, I have no idea if the staff would take another RB. He's from Illinois is why I would like to see him in the O & B.
