Probably but there is a lot meh teams this year. Heck some of the top ten teams like Bama and Miami look iffy and I think Oregon is debunking Ohio State.

Was watching with my Purdue alumni father. He can’t understand why I am upset. While it was sooooo Illinois to blow the lead, we’ve beeen winning our share of close calls.
And we'll drop out of the top 25, deservedly so
Thought this was an Illinutgers game for a bit.
Maybe you guys can get excited about this win. I just cannot. Such a defensive bust. Seemed like the effort level was non existent on the defensive side of the ball from the beginning . I’m afraid we really got exposed today. I’m not confident in any games on the schedule. It’s not doom and gloom, it’s watching Illinois football for 55 years.
It'll take more than a week to fix this D... Need tougher, stronger, and more dependable horses, and like right now !!!!
Part of it was that Walters knew everything we were going to do on D in the second half. Not sure why that didn't apply in the first half.

Well obviously if you score as time expires to go down 2 because you lose the game if you don't.
And extending that logic, like, if there are 30 seconds left and you score to go up 1, that single extra point is for all intents and purposes meaningless so it's worth the low-percentage shot to get that second point that does something important for you.
It was the right decision to go for 2 at the 2 yard line because that 2nd point was meaningful, but once the penalty hits and it's a <10% shot, there's just too much time and too many permutations to throw away nearly a whole point of expected value like that. Wrong decision.

This FB game today brought out every emotion that my old body and mind has experienced in my lifetime ......it really really did......
First there was elation with the beloved going up 27-3 with 10 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and then the worm turned for purdont.......they scored 46 points in the last 25 minutes and still LOST..................whew , there was too many plays to post them all down here......it shows the heart of the Illini to still stiffen their spine and FINALLY draw up a blitz and sack the QB down for the win.........
Kudos to Dylan Rosiek to keep rushing the dude down and make a convincing tackle for the win................
I thought it was going to be another career game by some unknown player to snatch the victory away , but NO , we persevered with a great drive for the tying FG....................Then in OT , Luke put the ball right on a line to Pat Bryant for the TD in overtime.......

PU deserved to win. Our D was clueless. Why?????? Onside kick------How is that even possible to give it up right up the middle. Coaches are not doing their jobs when they have a 27-3 lead and then let the other team's 2nd string QB completely dominate your defense in the 2nd half. Happy for a win, but?????????????????

As I reflect, I’ve been watching Illini sports for over 45 years, this is a football game historically we have lost. In the past it would have been an unexplainable loss that broke the team and fan base.
We won. We have Michigan next week and can win 8-9 games this year when everyone expected us to be lucky to get 6 wins.
This is a turning point, we have our coach and hopefully this trajectory helps drive more NIL to football and we upgrade our lines and continue to raise our ceiling.
