Illinois 21, Michigan 7 Postgame

it all ended great , I just don’t understand why in that circumstance .

and chasing points unless it makes math sense and time left is of the essence is dumb
And it was another version of the same Purdue mistake where the initial decision to go for it is at least arguably correct, but the circumstance of a backup quarterback changes the math and ought to change the call.

Good for Leary.

I think that conversion attempt was supposed to be to the RB in the flat, same play we’ve successfully run several times in similar situations. But the outside defender picked up the RB and Donovan had to look elsewhere.

Such a smooth throw under the circumstances!
BB said in his presser that Franklin was indeed the second read on that play.

Biggest home win since?

We've had some very nice wins on the road, but it's been a long time since we won a home game that felt as big as this one. Maybe #5 Wisconsin in 2007?

We got a lot of help from Jack Tuttle not being a very good or even a halfway decent QB but defense played a whole 60 minutes today. That was great to see after the mountain of suck we saw from that side of the ball last week.

Bowl eligibility!! But let's not stop there.

Eh. After Oregon, there are 4 very winnable games. 10 wins isn't a completely crazy thought. They won't face a weaker QB for sure though.

I agree. The crazy thing is that if we do lose to Oregon, and we somehow manage to beat everyone else, it’s possible that at the end of the regular season (before conference Championship games), it’s possible that our only two losses would be to the, at that time (conference champ week), #1 and #2 teams in the country.

I'm replying to this so this presser shows up twice in this thread.

Seriously, listen to it/watch it.

That is a leader and program builder.

We are in such a good spot with him leading this program.

Just imagine if someone had appeared randomly in 2012 and pointed to Brett as he left Wisco in controversy and told us...."that guy right there....he's going to save Illinois Football in 2021."

Even more unbelievable if he'd said that this would happen AFTER a Super Bowl winning NFL coach failed here.

We would have laughed so hard.

It's really an amazing story. I hope it gets more amazing and ends with the largest bronze statue in football history.

and it was a heckuva catch & footwork
just wow

and I still don’t understand why we keep trying over & over again to run up the gut on first down
I was thinking that this topic would have been an excellent question to ask BB in his presser. but alas. no one did.
It was certainly annoying me to no end. I could only guess that there was a plan to do that in order to tire out their internal defense over time.
